Gearbox service 2011 4.4tdv8

Hi, I am looking at servicing the gearbox on my 2011 4.4tdv8, as she has just turned 150k, so looking for recommendations as to the best kit to purchase. Also as there is no dealer/garage locally that can perform a flush, is there a way to do it myself?
Been told to take off the cooler return pipe and to idle (after filter change and top-up) until you see a change in oil colour, then top up as normal?
So pardon my ignorance in asking if it's the top or bottom pipe that's the return?

Thank you in advance.

Graham

not sure but I did three complete changes just from the sump drain with a day or a long drive between. That way you have full fluid change. Changed the sump (filter) after the second one.

A bit tricky without a ramp.
. Cheers, Greg

Just googled 'Shetland to Dundee'..................14hrs Censored Holy Moly.
Ask Bodsey if he fancies a weeks holiday in Scotland & see what he says Rolling with laughter

On a serious note, a flush will replace 99% of the oil whereas a basic 'oil & filter' will only replace around 40% of the oil.
Logistically that means a diy effort, I suppose there's no harm in doing a couple of 'oil & filter' changes.....it's better than nothing.
The 4.4 TDV8 is a fussy animal & will probably bite you if it's not done properly. 2012 Orkney Grey Westminster 4.4TDV8 with Ivory interior.........nice!

Thanks, I might be coming down to the mainland this year, any idea how much they charge for a gearbox flush/service?

Tell me about it? 14 hours on the ferry just to get to Aberdeen! Don't mind tackling it myself, but as I said in the original post, does anyone know which pipe is the return from the cooler, top or bottom and is this the easiest/best way to do a self flush? Also what kit is the best?
