The negative is tight but he positive just slides over the terminal and does'nt have a bolt to 'crimp' it onto the terminal... is that normal ? It moves a little..... I cant see anywhere a bolt would go .... Gavin

Definitely not normal. Looks like the source of your problems. There should be a bolt to tighten it. You may need to change the clamp if you have no means of tightening it. John

Yes, I had a look in there as I used it when I changed the battery in the Autumn. The only picture I could find was in the TDV8 4.4 section and that looks completely different to my positive terminal. https://www.fullfatrr.com/gallery/albums/u...G_1235.JPG I can see the bolt on the positive terminal there.. but this is mine ... It just slides over and there is nowhere for a bolt to tighten it up onto the clamp. The hole next to the clamp is just that, a hole. Even if it did have a thread in it I cannot see how this would help to tighten the clamp down onto the terminal ? There should be a bolt through that hole which serves to tighten the clamp. Can you see down the side of the battery to see if by chance the bolt has come loose and dropped into the battery compartment?

https://s3-eu-west-2.amazonaws.com/i.hubnu...971a74.jpg AHA! I see what you mean. The person who fitted the battery before me must've lost it, as that small 'clamp' isn't anywhere to be seen. I'll see if something similar is available on-line or raid my stores to see if anything turns up that can squeeze those bits around the terminal.
