Ahem, i think you'll find they were designed to have the oil drained from below when they were fitted to some Americans truck! They were never designed to drop the oil in a JLR product!

The presence of a a sump plug has nothing to do with the fact it was earmarked for the F150.

The Land Rover service manual even states that draining via the sump is a valid method.

Besides how else would you know the sump guard can come off. I swear it would've tested an Angel! Call me old fashioned but don't feel I know a motor until I've dropped the oil and had a look under her skirt😌 Help got CAR OWNER VIRUS!

Had the sump guard off mine. It came off Ok.

But for a service I would just suck it out. Very little more will drain down once it’s sucked out. Even if there is 1/8 litre it should make very little difference given that you are putting around 9 1/2 litres in.... about 1 1/2% old oil in 98.5% new oil.... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

get the mig out and weld a nut on . or get someone with a good socket and bar on nut and then give the flange of the bolt a hit with a chisel and hammer it has no mother or father so vidde hit the sod . new vehicle purchase

It's worth mentioning that in marine engines, the oil is always sucked out because there is no way to drop it out from below. It is a safe enough method of changing the oil.
