help a cd junkie

Hi Everyone,
Just changed from a ‘64 plate to a ‘18 Vogue SE.
After taking delivery I realised that there isn’t a CD player.
As I have a pretty extensive music library and often play a CD on my commute any recommendations on what I can do.
I appreciate that there are various ports and options but due to COVID restrictions I didn’t have a handover to discuss this issue.
What are members of the forum doing.
Many thanks for any suggestions.
Bertie

Rip your CDs to flac or high bit-rate mp3 is probably the easiest option and stick them on a USB drive? I presume it has a USB slot to either transfer or play direct. 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

CD's - come on Grandad Wink

I was in the same position a few years ago. I went through all the hassle of ripping CD's onto various USB's before giving up as just too much of a faff.

In the end I just used bluetooth audio - subscription to Apple Music (others are available) and now I can just play whatever I want whenever I want, streamed from my phone. OK, it's not audiophile quality, but plenty good enough for me - plus I can just talk to Siri and ask for what I want.

I've got rid of all my CD's now - something I thought I'd never do, having spent a small fortune on them. I haven't looked back - its a bit like Netflix vs Blu-ray....

Re: HELP A CD JUNKIE

Are you sure you haven't got a CD player in the glove box?

I've got a 18SE and it came as standard. Never use it, just pay £9.99pcm for Apple Music like Alistair , but use ACP to play the music. Brilliant! Thumbs Up All LR cars from 1984

Back in the day I used to work for a HiFi company we used to listen for motor hum on competitors tape decks (yes I am going back a bit) we also listened to pops and crackles on record decks and hiss on tapes. CDs were just coming in and were pretty much vilified by the self appointed HiFi elite.

Today people talk bit rate, correction, compression etc etc and the arguments continue, me, I just sing along and enjoy the music, I quite like Spotify bluetoothed from my phone because I can get all the music I want and can sing along (with the windows closed) to my hearts content (I don't even know what bit rate I get, probably not much) Thumbs Up Geoff

Yep I worked for Tandberg and I cant bring myself to sell imy TCD 3014A even though its gathering dust at the moment, sold my TD20ASE and always regretted it. Funny enough I drove past the shop where I always bought cassettes recently, it a hairdressers now, I always used TDK tape as well.

There is no doubt that those decks got the very best out of the format, ironically because we were both Scandinavian the deck we all laughed at was B&O still going strong. Geoff

Thanks everyone for your suggestions.
That's why I love this forum so much.
Looks like memory sticks appear to be the obvious answer.
Spotify is pretty useless on jazz - the majority of my cd collection. Will look at Apple Music too
Never used ACP.

Must of been part of the 18 model change that increased the size of the touchscreen.
With over 2500 cd's in my collection I am a bit miffed to say the least.
I am also trying to work out how to update the DAB list. Need to find 5 Live Sports Extra

I've got everything - pretty much - on a good old iPod. I've compared to streaming, but the difference is noticeable, not to mention needing a data connection and all that malarkey.

You can get iPod classics reasonably now and there are various upgrades of memory available. The FF touchscreen is pretty good with it, too.

CD player became no cost option from MY18.5 when the new HVAC screen came in - it has to be specified as an order as it moves to the upper glovebox and reduces space. But as it defaults to not fitted, I suspect many cars from MY18.5 won't have it. It does get fitted automatically though if rear screens are ordered. Current Fleet:-
