TDV8 Top Intake Hose loose fit

Had my 2011 TDV8 for just over a month and completed most of the the required jobs and issues.

Having just replaced the serpentine belt and idler pulleys, whilst reconnecting top hose on the air intake main throttle manifold, it feels very loose at the end fixed with the circular clip. Should this be a tight fit ?

I know this is under a fair amount of pressure and remember having to clean the area around here when I first got car as there was a lot of oily gunk around this area when I removed engine cover.

You thoughts much appreciated.

serviced mine this weekend i checked all the hoses were fitted snuggly and for any obvious damage i had no oily gunk or any loose fitting hoses. it should be a snug fit to prevent boost leak!

you mention fitting serpentine belts and tensioners how was the job to do it looks like a bit of a faf with a fair bit of removal? is it just a case of remove the items then you can get to everything? is it a job you can do on the drive? 2012 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 - Current

The end of the hose has a rubber seal in it where it slides over the throttle body. Nobody has found a replacement seal yet so you have to replace the whole hose. I had mine changed under warranty and I think it made initial throttle response a tad better.

Regarding replacing the belt there is a post in wiki regarding this, worth noting the last part regarding replacement without removing fan cowling. I had to undo fan but not cowling for access. I replaced the belt, tensioner and the other two idler pulleys on the right. All in all it took two of us 2 1/2 hours, the most difficult part is getting belt past a bracket. You can remove the top bolt but the bottom is done blind and didn’t fully remove just slackened to get belt through. The rest is just patience. Next time I will remove the fan and cowling and the rest of the cooling pipes, didn’t this time as didn’t want to discharge AC gas, especially as just recharged.

You can remove cowling without discharging gas despite what the manual says.
But I wouldn't advise removing cowling unless absolutely necessary. Quite involved for what is usually an easy job on other vehicles.

I replaced mine because it felt loose. 80 odd quid later and the new one was the same!!

Working with a silicone hose manufacturer who could replicate and put a suitable boss for the sensor would be a great way forward for everyone.. 2011 4.4tdv8 Vogue
