What car did you pass your test in !

Saw this on another site and thought it quite interesting as we usually remember with a pang of nostalgia

Mine, Daihatsu Charade with the seat stuck in the forward position ( I am 6"4") passed even after ignoring a red light. 1981

A bright yellow Triumph Dolomite 1300, courtesy of BSM. I even remember the reg no, LAR150V. Passed on 4th July 1980.

I then spent the rest of the summer careering around the lanes of Worcestershire in my 1159cc Vauxhall Viva HC.

That Viva I mentioned was originally my mum’s and I learned to drive in that when I was about 14, just shuffling about the drive, but sometimes that meant driving up and down the lane when nobody was looking......

1974 Bedford HA van. it was a private light goods vehicle test iirc. the difference was using wing mirrors to reverse around corners. you had to pump gas to prime it before it would start

My 1938 Vauxhall Model J 14hp in 1965. I bought it when I was 16, did my licence test soon after turning 17 (back then we could get a learner’s licence at 16 years and 9 months).

(It’s hard to convince someone from the UK that a nearly 30 year old car of that era was almost rust free. Smile

Motorcycle: 1966 on a borrowed Bridgestone 90 - the first time I'd ridden it. I got caught out a couple of times by the rotary gearbox. Ron B. VK2OTC
