Can't see the point myself, it lets you know within 6 meters of the car whether the battery is flat or not, walk a few paces and try to start it and you will get your answer...

Now, if it sent you a text when the battery voltage got below a certain level it would be helpful..... Thumbs Up Pete

Here's a version which *can* send you a message when the battery drops below a certain voltage, looks very handy - I've just ordered one Smile

Dont expect too much with the range, 100 metres at best, sturround it with meatl and you may get 10 metres or thereabouts. BMW i3 Electric Car

Yeah, definitely not expecting much range but the car is parked less than 10 metres from where I sleep Smile

I'm intending on getting the drain issue nailed quickly, so I don't have to worry about it, but it'll be a nice little backup - the voltage readings taken from ODBC (or via the GAP tool) or via the cigarette lighter sockets always seem to read low compared to sticking a DMM across the battery, so hopefully this will be more accurate.

I've found I get readings of 12.4 to 12.5 consistently from the cigarette lighters, so I figure they're regulated voltage. Similar sort of readings from the GAP tool, consistently a few volts off from a direct reading from the battery.

When the engines running, oddly, the GAP tool reads 14.6v or so, as you'd expect. Very odd.

Range isn't much of an issue with this device - it stores the data internally for 24 hours or more, so when you return within range it syncs it down to the app. Works great!
