I did it a while back with my M62-powered L322 - the filler cap is just above the timing chain which proceeds to throw outside the oil. It does make a mess! Ron B. VK2OTC

The technician presumably didn't follow the golden rule of checking for leaks with the engine idling after a filter change! |

thing is i know a couple of mechanics that work at big dealers and they are put under lots of time pressure to carry out tasks so i guess an easy mistake. sounds like they took care of it well 2012 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 - Current

Similar thing happened to me, first service on a new Discovery 3 by a main dealer.
