Elliott Engineering West Sussex

Hi all,

A long shot given I don't have long to decide this but does anybody have any experience of Elliott Engineering in West Sussex they could share?

My new to me 4.4 TDV8 L322 has thrown in the electronic towel (charging system fault restricted performance) and my RAC cover won't transport me far enough to get to the independent I had been using until now. Elliott Engineering is close to me but I have struggled to find many views/reviews - although maybe that's a good thing!

Thanks all,

Matt.

Scotland 2008 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Stornoway Grey

A search on the internet brought up this : https://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&...x_id:nr44Y

The poor review was on the basis of paperwork supplied.

I believe I have seen on here that someone has used them so you may get a better idea if there is a forum response. John

Thank you. Yes I found the same but it is difficult to know with the Google reviews whether they are talking about work done to older models etc.

They are actually so close to my house I think I will pop in there this morning to get a feel for it before progressing things.

Matt.

Both have good Google reviews and I've stored them in my Google Maps "list" so I must have read good reviews on both of them on here and other forums.

I'd buy a GAP IID Bluetooth from Island 4x4 and get the codes read yourself and then you can get a better idea.
The IID is a must-have for all L322 owners to save you wads of dosh....it will pay for itself very very quickly.

Thanks Rob.

I just got back from Elliott and my impression was very good. They are less than 10 minutes drive from my house too. What reviews/views I can find are very good including a couple on here if I alter the spelling a bit.

The RAC can do the diagnostic this time as I have home start/recovery but I would certainly like to buy an IID tool. Unfortunately preventative maintenance and now this job means it has been a very expensive start to the ownership experience so the purchase will have to wait for a few weeks.

Just praying I get a few months of 'normal' use now as thanks to also owning animals my wallet has taken an extreme battering over the last few weeks! It is now at the point that laughing maniacally is the only logical solution.

Matt.

Good. Have you left it with them?
Initial spend is normal then into a programme of preventative maintenance. I'm still paying off my secondary turbo bill but that's what 0% credit cards are for Rolling with laughter Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

That does make me feel better!

No I'm just about to call the RAC to begin the process of having it recovered there. I just wanted to talk to them face to face to ensure they were happy to help and see their setup. I had met the owner (Simon) previously and spoke to a mechanic called Paul today who couldn't have been more helpful. There wasn't an L322 in the shop today but there was an L320 in that he used as an example to show a few 'simple points to check' on explaining how the L322 would look different etc.

Thankfully I do have motorbikes too so although the weather isn't perfect for riding I can at least still get to work if need be.

Matt

Keep us posted on what the issue turns out to be and any feedback on Elliott's. I'll then add them to my "hit list" Thumbs Up Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

That's good to read, thanks Rob.

The car went in unceremoniously yesterday lunchtime, pictorial evidence below:

Amazingly I got a call this afternoon to say it is ready for collection. I will grab it in the morning so huge credit to Elliott's for getting me back on the road on four wheels so quickly.

A new alternator. I'm beginning to regret committing to about £1200 of preventative maintenance and servicing before using the car a bit more to iron out any of the typical second hand car unavoidable jobs like this now.

There was no sign of the alternator going either as it had been checked on diagnostics twice over the last fortnight.

If it chucks up another big bill over the next month or two it really will have to be a nice driveway ornament for a while. Maybe I could use it as a home office?!
