Perhaps a silly question, but since I'm going to be changing the tyres on my 2011 RR, I was wondering, if the sensors use batteries, this could a be a good time to replace them.

Yes they do have batteries but not sure they are changeable 2010 3.6TDV8 Stornoway Grey/ Black interior - gone
2005 4.4V8 (M62) Bonatti Grey/ Parchment interior - gone
1998 4.6HSE Blue/ Cream interior (can't remember exact colours) - gone
1977 White - gone (should have kept)

iirc the battery is potted. the whole thing is replaced or buy an IID tool

Disabling TPMS is always a good choice, assuming your car’s old enough and doesn’t require them by law. Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

I agree with alamn_3.

IMHO TPMS are nothing short of a menace. On HGV's they constantly give spurious warnings (particularly on DAF's but then again DAF's are built to a price). If you get a warning on a motorway do you ;
1) Ignore it, drive by instinct (bearing in mind that moderns vehicles have the "feel" engineered out of them) until you get to a services.
2) Pull onto the hard shoulder (if there is one) & risk yours & other peoples wellbeing to check.
3) Drive to a safety box thing (on a smart motorway) to check & then wait for VDSA to close lane 1 whilst you return to the motorway inconveniencing everyone else.

The TPMS on Mrs C's 3 YO Kuga is just as bad - always having to go to Kwikfarce to have the pressures checked (& found OK) & having the system reset. 2003 Range Rover Vogue TD6

You'd think with all that being thrown around, they'd be able to be charged with a mechanism like a watch has.

(Couple of magnets in a tube generating a current from being moved back and forth)

Is there any way of seeing the pressure readings from them?

the L322 cant see the pressure readings but the L405 can ... ... - .- -.

There is a system under development from an Indian firm to make them self charge but there also systems that work by using the ABS sensors and so have nothing inside the wheel and therefore no batteries 2010 3.6TDV8 Stornoway Grey/ Black interior - gone

Interesting, looks like they're probably 433mhz, I can probably pick up the sensors on my Home Automation system and give me an alert if they're below a certain threshold

(Something else to mess around with! Not this weekend though as I'm fitting the Naviplus and the dash is in pieces)

My previous car was also a RangeRover, but a classic , this things of TPMS are all news to me. With my other cars, each time I replaced my tyres, I replace the valves too, they are cheap enough, and I feel more assured I will not have problems with them. The ones on my car look like they are the original ones.

perhaps this time I will leave it well alone, and now I know, if the system starts to fail, or the sensors, I can turn it off with the IID tool.

Do the L494 RRS come with the TPMS as standard?

Just wondering as one of my tyres were at 8psi. I always thought I had TPMS but may not actually have it because of this or it could be dead sensor. Always optimistic, unless really hits the fan

one of the issues with tpms is the sensors themselves corrode away and can burst leaving you stranded.
ask me how I know. one of the main reasons for me buying my IID tool.
I guess they are fairly expensive so don't get replaced as required
