I have two - Elliott Engineering and Gumtree 4x4.

Funnily enough I actually spoke to Gumtree 4x4 and booked the car in for a once over. It would be nice to know exactly where I stand having had a professional eye cast over it and be able to prioritise anything that does need to be done. Worth it for peace of mind alone!

Matt.

Thank you. It has gone to Gumtree sooner than anticipated as I hadn't checked the oil since I collected the car a couple of days ago because I kept parking on slopes (my driveway for example). The first flat surface I parked on was my parking space at work today and... it was overfilled.

My extractor hasn't arrived yet and as I pass Gumtree going to/from work I popped it in but it was the end of the day so they will remove some oil tomorrow.

So tonight I have a Mk1 Freelander TD4 HSE automatic. Not a bad little car to be fair!

Matt.

It only takes a few millilitres to send it to overfill. Check it when cold and hot.

A nice bit of history is that the first owner appears to have been Jackie Stewart.

Welcome to the club Matt! I'm also a fairly recent owner (2 weeks or so) of a 4.4 TDV8 on a 2010 plate Smile

Very jealous of that first owner, what an amazing person to have owned it!

Thank you. Is it still easy to find a specialist in Spain?

No issues so far - but they have only done an oil change as there was no point taking a bit out when it wanted it changed anyway. They did run the codes too but didn't raise anything in particular. The inspection and the other bits of service are all being done next week.

I did think the ride felt a little jittery and discovered the tyre pressures were all about 10psi too high! I have put them as they should be and it rides far more pleasantly now. I'm starting to recognise a theme of things being over done on this car!

At this point in time I'm thrilled with it, but next week's inspection could alter that...

I'm pleased to say the only issue the car will need to return to Gumtree to address is for the rear suspension knuckles to be replaced.

I didn't expect them to need doing as they were replaced just prior to me buying the car but apparently despite them being new parts there is a lot of play in them. Rob at Gumtree was surprised they had failed too but there was no denying the movement in them.

Otherwise nothing of note other than the annoying TPMS fault I already knew about. I thought it had been solved by rotating the spare with another wheel as previously the warning came on 20 minutes into a drive (like clockwork) so after 20 minutes I thought the swap was a success. It lulled me into a false sense of security and took 40 minutes today instead!

Definitely going for quality knuckles. I just tried to find the invoice for the current ones in the history to see what they were but it doesn't seem to be there which makes me suspect they were the cheapest of the cheap.

For some reason I thought all late L322s would have had TPMS to lucky you not to! I suspect it may end up switched off until I get my next set of tyres and new sensors.

Matt.
