I know this feeling well, I had a similar noise (thought possible wheel bearing). Changed tyres, straight through the MOT with no advisories & wheel bearings fine ?.

yep im going to do the same, if i take it to a garage they will just say its tyre noise from the crap roads and all terrains. I think we all notice things out of place on our own cars that others dont, pretty sure i wouldnt notice it in another car... |

I could be talking rubbish here, but I seem to recall in the early days of the L322 they were fitted with Goodyear Wrangler tyres, which caused road noise when part worn that sounded very much like wheel bearings (and, in fact, were subject to warranty claims in the US, but not here - big surprise) and one of the reasons LR changed OE tyres to Pirelli Scorpion. So, it could be tyre noise, I notice a bit of tyre noise in mine very occasionally that some might think was wheel bearings, but it definitely isn't. Drives:

To be honest, I think this is my problem (like the old Land Rover sound), as I run Pirelli Scorpions. |

I just changed from Scorpions to Grabber AT-3 and didnt stop the noise, does sound like its coming from the tyres though but as its not constant and only last seconds when it happens its hard to pin point it. I have read of people saying similar and it turns out to be the torque converter so fingers crossed its not that, i have found it still does it if i put it in neutral and coast for a while so not sure if that makes a difference.. |

Mine also comes & goes, Therefore I have put it down to the tyres.

Just to clarify, it was the Goodyear Wranglers that were guilty in the early days. Drives:

Suggs, has the gearbox/TC been done at any point? If not, based on my experience that's what it sounds like ! |

With my 04 petrol it was the same paranoia ! you know when something is not right and really know what it is I tried all the brake caliper/warped discs.wrong tyres but knew what it was, if you get it early may not be so bad, in the end I had gearbox and TC for c. £ 1500 |
