L322 2011 4.4 V8 front heater not working

Help please. I've used an icarsoft to scan for codes but nothing relates to my issue. Is this a good tool to use?

The rear blowers work
The front switches light up but no sound, even on max from the heater
If I lift the bonnet and turn the fans on full, I can feel air being blown under the removable cover and if removed, you can feel it blowing straight into your face. Is this right?

Could this be a fuse? If so, which one? I think I've read about it being a 40amp one.

Grateful for any help.

Sounds like your heater blower has packed in if it doesn’t work on any of the speed settings, I’ve done a post on how I changed mine but before I’d remove the pollen filter housing, turn car on and start the fans if there working you will see them spinning if not spinning it’s time to change unfortunately 2012 Range Rover Westminster 4.4 TDV8

Cheers for the reply mate. Appreciate it.

Sounds like your right but will check this weekend/early next week.

Being a little lazy, where is the pollen filter accessed from? I'm guessing the centre of the engine, towards where the faulty part is?

Open bonnet the pollen filter is at the back there are two 13mm bolts holding it in place it’s a big bit of kit when it comes out 2012 Range Rover Westminster 4.4 TDV8

When I was putting my MY11 in for a blower motor replacement, there were other L322s also getting new blower motors.
Seems it is not uncommon that the bearings seize up
And then no blow
New blower motor is a slightly revised design I am told

Could be that it is just your FSR that is blown however, which is a cheaper job to replace than a blower motor

How would I know which one it is without doing one, it not being that and then the other one? I don't think you're going to be able to tell me lol

My blower motor was on the way out for a while. It blew a few FSRs and the HVAC control module before it finally gave up.
I could hear the bearings chirping - but originally put it down to the accessory belt.

If you replace the blower motor, I would replace the FSR in any event.
So whatever you choose to do, sounds like a new FSR will be needed at some point !

I've just thought and it might be a coincidence, there's been a squeak coming from one of the belts under the bonnet. Could this have anything to do with it?

Is there a specific fsr and blower I need? I've read about upgraded ones.

Cheers

If the squeak / chirping is still happening after your blower motor is stopped, then it could be belt and / or idler pullies

If squeaking / chirping stopped when blower motor stopped......then the squeak could have been the bearings

Only one option for blower motor and FSR (final stage resistor)

Am confused though when you say blower motor does seem to produce output but somehow in the wrong direction and not through the blenders etc.....but backwards through the pollen filter .....

Update - I've took out the pollen filter (see pictures) but I can't see any motors. Am I missing something? I've had the blowers off and on full, without the pollen filter. Still nothing.

Hi stuartj9,

I’m in a similar boat and have ordered a new blower and fsr from advanced factors… about £110 total.
whether and family permitting it’s a job for this weekend.

When I took my pollen filter unit out I could see my fan from both sides. I believe you need the fan to be set to on for the flaps to open so you can see them. They are the air recirculation flaps I think…
Also you took the pollen filter out. If you undo the two bolts to the plastic housing the entire unit comes out. You’ll get a better look at the fans then.

It’s odd that you felt air blowing at your face before in the engine bay… the only fans blowing air are designed to blow air into the car and not the other direction. Unless you felt the air from your engine fan??? Currently driving: 2012 L322 SE Overfinch 4.4 tdv8

Have a look at this post from me… and the messages from furnatureman who has tackled replacing the blower. I’ll be updating my progress here…

Cheers mate. I think the air/blow is coming from the fan by the radiator, so nothing to do with the heating.

I'll keep watching your post. A little confused though. Can you cut under the dash to get the fan out that way?
