I've got some play in my track rod ball joints. I'm thinking I'll just replace the track rods and put new ends on at the same time as the parts are cheap enough.

What tool have people used to get the l322 track rods off the rack? I presume I have the original track rods on so they're 12 years old. I'm expecting them to be 'stubborn'.

Nothing special. Mine were surprisingly easy. Good squirt of WD40 and off they came as normal.

Did both inner and outer at the same time inc new nuts. L322 3.6 TDV8 Vogue. 07MY
ML 320 7 Seat full leather etc. (The Black Pearl)

I bought a tool, but found there was minimal effort to loosen the drumstick hex with a large adjustable spanner.
I've also found the same on a replacement rack I bought and fitted to mine as the track rod plat turned out to be play in the steering rack housing ! Paul,
