They say it happens with age......

I went out 5 days ago and could smell a slight bit of sweet antifreeze when I put the car away. Wandered out and thought I’d see if coolant needed top up yesterday. Not unduly low.... put a bit in... spilled a little...

Went out this morning....

I recon that’s from when I smelled it, as the coolant doesn’t seem fresh.

Will keep an eye on it, but suspect I will be laid under it soon 🤣

So is the best way to inspect to drive on ramps and remove under tray ?

On my old D3, off road height with a door left open to stop self levelling was enough room to remove the under tray and inspect. It wasn’t the easiest working position but I didn’t trust those ramps.

Unless of course you mean a proper 4 post ramp which would make the task a whole lot easier.

As said that was a D3 not a FF. My diy days are few and far between these days so I’m assuming a similar clearance on a FF.

When I did my SC I just put it into off road height, a couple of axle stands and there is loads of room to get under.
If you are lucky it will be the same as mine just a new drain plug. I tried changing the O rings but couldn't find the right size.

I also found that all the clips and screws were badly rusted for the under radiator cover, so I replaced with stainless clips and screws.

I’m hoping it’s not water pump. Not keen on it being radiator, but that said... it’s probably the original one and getting ready.... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

I normally put mine into extended height mode which gives plenty of room to remove the under tray and work on most components under the vehicle.

Access is fairly easy, I always put axle stands and I don't trust the suspension going back to access mode.

That coolant is looking way old.. doesn't look like its ever changed.. should be pink in color. You will be guessing what it is at the moment so get under it to see exactly what it is.. doubt it would be the water pump but hey.. could be anything. Current:

thought my coolant was old looked like that
but the genuine coolant is orange in colour
so looks like old water and rust that came out of old pintos in the 70s
