Tdv8 whistling turbos

Hello from Norway🙂.
New member/owner of L322.
Just bought me a 2007 tdv8.
Only driven it 3000km yet, but what a car.
Like a magic carpet, realy flying.
A little conserned about whistling sounds from engine compartments when i give it a little stick. Thats as giving it alittle more stick than my wife would have done🙂.
Since I'm new to this car, I dont know if this is normal, or should I be nervous, planning for turbo havoc etc.
Would like to hear from expirient owners.
Excuse my bad English, but probably better than Your Norwegian🙂

Without hearing i really dont know but make sure you do not have a boost leak from a split intercooler hose etc... If you do generaly youll get black smoke and reduced performance if it is bad enough ... your turbo can also overspeed and fail which is why i say check it out

The are lots of threads and info on the top intercooler hoses failing (not saying thatis what it will be / your noise is)

Thank You for Your response.
I will investigate furter, now that I know this is not normal. I have not notised any black smoke, and not sure of laking performance.
Never driven any others tdv8's.
10 years of Discovery td5 driving makes this thing feel like a formula1 car🙂

To be honest with you I've never been in another TDV8 either which I'd like to do.

I also had a TD5 for a while some years ago... Yes slight difference Laughing

What you describe doesn't sound right... Maybe do a voice clip or quick vid for YouTube.

Are you sure it's the turbos?

You can sometime hear a whistle coming from the windscreen surrounds when the speed and wind direction are right.

I would say don't panic too much unless the noise gets worse quite quickly or you start to get "restricted performance" or fault messages.
I've got a 2007 TDV8 with almost 160,000 miles and there has been a bit of turbo whistle for at least 30,000 miles that I know of and it doesn't seem to be getting worse (or maybe my hearing is getting worse!).

Thank You for reply. No black smoke or any signs of reduced performance. Will check intercooler/turbo hoses as a matter of course. Is there any tendenses for witch hoses usualy goes wrong?
