Small rear seat not folding

Hello Very Happy

I have electric rear seats in my L405 and the smaller one of the 2 won’t move via the motor. When I flick the button you can hear a sort of electrical engaging but it doesn’t shift the seat at all.

Has anyone experienced this? Also does anyone know where the motor is for the rear seats?

Many thanks and happy Christmas 🎄

Had exactly this after picking up my 2019 AB.
MD had a software update for a known JLR issue with this and now all is sorted.
Why it was not fixed at factory or MD puzzles me. 2008 Vogue Black - gone

Just had a similar issue in my 2016 MY AB. Except stuck in folded / flat position. Cannot hear any motor whirring!

Any suggestions?!

W.R.T. fixing are Factory.

Think about how phones are made... same model, same spec, same assembly line. Even then you have post sales issues (e.g. iPhone 5s in one batch did not connect with all Wi-fi networks)

Similar but on a more complicated scale the same applies to cars with multiple small computers/ phones / ECUs in them.

The in the factory , the spec is put together for the base model. Then features are added based on specific build request finally listed on the LR Build sheet. The hardware and associated ECU for each feature is built on separate assembly lines from other manufacturers sometimes. There isn’t much control on the software in the ECU at LR beyond a minimum stable software version. There may be multiple improvements on the minimum version within a week - creating a new sub version which may have a fix. If a flaw is widespread / critical for safety. for example airbag not deploying or delaying deployment, or this seat stuck situation, software patch updates are issue for MD to update or sold cars. Airbag / handbrake type issues sometimes require recall as these are a safety issue, where the patch is updated and tested with various cars which have different software sub versions to identify the minimum sub version allowing recreation the flaw.

Hope this makes sense.

contacts ... preventing seat folding

so the car came back from the dealership
the explanation of right rear seat non folding is that the contact plugs are oxydated, probably spend some time in water...
does anyone have a clue where those electric plugs migh be so i check if i can fix them

Hi Karba,

You are referring to more than one set of contact plugs here, and may need to get more specific information from the dealer, let me explain:

1. Motor has its plugs (Under seat)
2. control module has its plugs (Under seat)
3. Switch back in boot has its plugs (Right hand side panel)
4. Switch pack on seat has its plugs (under / seat)

For anything under the seat you Will have to remove the seat. Barring the seat switch pack which can I believe unbolted from the side screws / bolts not easily reachable in either case

The switch pack in the boot pulls out quite easily to reveal the plug on the back. (But if that one is Oxydated you have a bigger problem on your hands as the fuse box sits in the same area a further in.

Best of luck. Suzuki Gypsy MG410W 94 -Tata Grand Telcosport / Sierra 92 -Nissan X-Trail Aventura 07 2.2D -Honda CRV ES 01 S4 1.9L -Honda CRV ES-L 07 VTEC 2L -L322 Vogue 04 V6 3L -L322 Autobio 11 V8 4.4L - L405 Autobio 16 V6 3L -L320 Autobio 71 V8 4.4L -XC90 InscriPro 21 V6 2L EV PLUG-IN HYBRID -L405 Autobio 19 V6 3L -Velar P350 HSE Dynamic 21 2.2D -L405 Vogue SE 63 V8 4.4L

That looks like water contamination and then corrosion of the connectors . Get this type of spray and a cut down clean paint brush and clean and it should be OK . But a main dealer may want to cut the connector out and get a new loom at big cost .

Next question is to ask your rear passengers who spilled the drink and did not say anything ?

That's a huge amount of corrosion , use old tooth brush as well .if some components have dissolved you may have to get a new module .Best of luck

Whether you can fix the original module or have to get a new one , it's absolutely vital that you find the source of the water / drink before you go much further .At least if you have to get a new module from the UK you won't have to pay our VAT ( sales tax )
