I'm doubtful the issue is with the amp or speakers.
I'm holding out hope for a menu option.
Have you checked under the seats for a disconnected harness from the floor to the seat? My thought is if for some reason they pulled the seats to clean the carpet, perhaps they missed reconnecting?

Might be worth buying a cheap endoscope camera, and poking it under the seat.... not sure what you can see though.

Close. The green connector is for all the various Microphones. You are looking for some bigger black connectors near that green one.

thanks - ive got a wrench coming later that should enable me to lift the seat.

When that is done - today or tomorrow, I will hopefully get a bit of a better look.
I dont want to do more harm than good by yanking cables about then ending up not knowing how to fix it. So its a case of take it slowly.

Have you tried changing the audio output settings from Meridian to DTS or vice versa? I think there are 3 types but I cannot remember the third... it could be that the output setting you currently are using is not allowing multi channel surround.
It’s just a guess ...it’s rather like home cinema amps which do not always utilise the full 7.1 or 9.1 etc surround speakers if the appropriate output is not selected.

Also try using a multi channel 5.1 surround dvd in the cd tray as a check and switch audio outputs from Meridian to DTS.

Tried using my new torx tool. Not the right one but that’s another story.
So I’ve tried all of the audio settings, meridian, Dolby and the other one. Can’t remember what it called. Still no good.
So I’m getting to the stage where I feel I need an Audio person who knows this system to look at it.
Everybody has tried to be so helpful but without hands on I don’t think I’m going to get it sorted.

I suppose I could give in and accept it as is but I don’t want to let this beat me.

Have you checked if the centre speaker in the dash is working, and what audio source are you using to check if the speakers are working (did you try using a DVD with 5.1 sound as suggested)?

Information published by Meridian here states that the seat-back speakers are for centre-channel sound, so it is possible that channel simply has no decoded audio to output.
From the handbook:

Thanks for your advice there.
I didn’t have a 5.1 dvd but I tried a blu ray disc and it played through all speakers except the rear of seat ones.
I’ve also used the soft keys to set the audio to 3D. There are 3 x 3 d options, meridian, Dolby and another one (forgotten the name) but in all modes these rear speakers just won’t work.
I’m thinking rather than pull out the seat, could I somehow expose the connection to the rear seat speakers by removing the seat backs?

I’m sounding a bit desperate here 😀

Its puzzling that it is only the seat back speakers that are not working, if it was the plug to the amplifier disconnected then the headlining speakers would not work either.

The amplifier connector you are looking for is a green 16 way one, the speakers are connected to pins 1 (brown/blue) and 9 (yellow/orange) for the left seat and 2 (brown/yellow) and 10 (grey/brown) for the right seat.

Agreed, i too feel it would be a bank of speakers that wouldn’t work.
It can’t be possible that just 2 random cables could come adrift.

Thanks for the info on the speaker wire colours that might help if I go down the seat out route.
Might it be feasible that one speaker might be faulty or not properly connected within the seat and that would cause both of those to cut out ?

From the wiring diagram there is a connector that has both seat back speaker signals, there may be a problem with this, but I cannot find its location.
If there is an electrical fault with the speaker it should cause the amplifier module to generate a DTC code which may help to localise the fault. Unfortunately it is also possible that a fault with the speakers may have blown the output module for that channel in the amplifier.
