Deal or no deal?

Just wanted to ask what sort of deals people are currently seeing on new L405s? I just took the plunge on a new P400e AB. It's already built, had spec that worked for me and is sitting in factory so will be delivered quite soon.

The dealer was saying that he is seeing the best deals since the L405 was introduced at the moment given COVID and impending Mk V etc.

After some haggling, he gave me about 12% off list in the end, which I thought was OK, but suspect it may get better as the new model approaches. That said, I have no frame of reference, so would welcome other's thoughts: Did I get a good deal or not?

How do you haggle

I have been trying my best and I am not getting anything off. Price tag is over 100k for the vehicle I am looking at. Dealer says he will sell it at the list price even if it does not sell for months!

Go onto the CarWow website and price one up.

We are about to head into a global recession, the likes of which has not been seen for centuries. New car sales, whether a Ford Fiesta or a L405, have dropped off the edge of a cliff and whilst dealerships don’t want to admit it they are struggling to move new vehicle.

There is always a deal to be had on a new car.

Not always easy of course. I ended up doing a bit of googling on my phone while in the dealership and found some online dealers quotes that gave a helpful starting point. That then just gave him something to hit and I kept sending him back into the finance office until I thought he’d got as far as he could.
If your guy isn’t helping then perhaps go to another dealer. It seems there are plenty of offers out there and I’m sure someone else can get you the same or similar motor as the one you are looking at. What are you looking for BTW?
I’m far from the expert here so am sure others will have better tips.

In my case dealer says that they do not keep high margin and then bring it down. Their prices are competitive to begin with. So he said take it or leave it. And I have kept quiet on it for a week and they have not even bothered to follow up. Clearly it is not working for me.

I am going to try contacting other dealers now.

Congrats Phil. Looks like you got a stonking deal. Wish I had seen that thread before. I guess I probably missed the boat on deals that good, but admittedly didn’t scour the web for pre-reg offers. Will know that one for next time.
Looks like you’ve got a lovely motor for an absolute bargain.

LR finance is not the best VFM. First Direct personal loan last week for less than 30 k @3.3% or 6.7% for more. I was told by the dealer 8.8 was the best they could do.

I’d bet there are even better deals out there on the finance if you shop around.

I took a low rate loan from the Post Office and paid off the LR finance in the first week with no penalty, whilst retaining the discount (dealer finance contribution). It’s the easiest way to get a discount from a dealer. MY23 D350 HSE

Am contemplating doing something similar with mine Phil, but I guess one attraction of the PCP is the guarantee on the minimum future value. Essentially gives a one way option in your favour. Do private PCP providers give better rates than LR do you know?

Magnitude finance is worth a look, they offer PCPs at around 6% on used cars. Not great, but better than some main dealers.

I haven't used them, but the the calculator is useful for getting an idea on the expected value when looking at different options. MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

Sorry, I’ve never taken PCP, but agree it can reduce the depreciation risk if you can get the right deal. MY23 D350 HSE

My preference to reduce depreciation risk and overall cost is to buy at a significant discount then finance some of it at the lowest rate.

Guy Salmon were recently offering up to £10k off a new RR before haggling.
