Not always easy of course. I ended up doing a bit of googling on my phone while in the dealership and found some online dealers quotes that gave a helpful starting point. That then just gave him something to hit and I kept sending him back into the finance office until I thought he’d got as far as he could.

In my case dealer says that they do not keep high margin and then bring it down. Their prices are competitive to begin with. So he said take it or leave it. And I have kept quiet on it for a week and they have not even bothered to follow up. Clearly it is not working for me.

Congrats Phil. Looks like you got a stonking deal. Wish I had seen that thread before. I guess I probably missed the boat on deals that good, but admittedly didn’t scour the web for pre-reg offers. Will know that one for next time.

LR finance is not the best VFM. First Direct personal loan last week for less than 30 k @3.3% or 6.7% for more. I was told by the dealer 8.8 was the best they could do.

I took a low rate loan from the Post Office and paid off the LR finance in the first week with no penalty, whilst retaining the discount (dealer finance contribution). It’s the easiest way to get a discount from a dealer. MY23 D350 HSE

Am contemplating doing something similar with mine Phil, but I guess one attraction of the PCP is the guarantee on the minimum future value. Essentially gives a one way option in your favour. Do private PCP providers give better rates than LR do you know? |

Magnitude finance is worth a look, they offer PCPs at around 6% on used cars. Not great, but better than some main dealers.

Sorry, I’ve never taken PCP, but agree it can reduce the depreciation risk if you can get the right deal. MY23 D350 HSE

My preference to reduce depreciation risk and overall cost is to buy at a significant discount then finance some of it at the lowest rate.
