First outing with the fatty & the Bailey.
Had a great week at Henley on Thames (CC site).
Towed lovely there & back although I think she sits lower hitchwise than the X5. 2012 Orkney Grey Westminster 4.4TDV8 with Ivory interior.........nice!

Nice. Gonna be using mine for the first time soon. Just finished putting a tow bar on and see what it's like. Do you use sports mode when towing? Just had transmission fluid changed at a ZF specialist and that's what they advised. Cheers Kev.

Somewhere on here I asked what it's like towing with a 4.4.....I assume yours is a 4.4 or 3.6?
Having got 8 gears I was concerned that she would sit in 6th, 7th or 8th or play a tune up & down the gears!
Consensus of option was split between 'toggle with the paddles' if she laboured a little to 'stick her in sport mode'.
I used the A14-M11-M25-M40 & just stuck her in 'D' & let her decide, drove lovely with no concerns at all.
Think I used the paddles every now & again if I thought she needed it.
2 things are different to my ex trusted steed the X5 [which was faultless in the 5 years] one, I'm convinced the towball
sits lower than the X5, I noticed as soon as I backed up to the ball that I had to drop the caravan a lot to meet the ball.
Secondly, I feel the RR rolls a little more than the X5. The X5 has rear air suspension only & 'sports' suspension as well, which made her slightly more sure-footed on the road. The RR with all her air-gismo's etc is much quieter, softer & 'nicer' but with a 'van on the back you do notice a very slight 'roll'.
Having said that, if you look at the photo, she doesn't look 'arse heavy' & all hooked up, looks fine.
I've only towed once this year with her, but looking forward to next year when we hope to get out a little more.

Keep us informed how you get on. 2012 Orkney Grey Westminster 4.4TDV8 with Ivory interior.........nice!

Mines an L405 4.4. Tow an older crusader superstorm , just over 8m long. I’ve found that sometimes you need to downchange on the paddles as it’s reluctant to kick down, especially when you need to . Otherwise just stick the cruise on and bimble along. My old 3.6 used to hang on to lower gears uphill and would not change. Guess it’s just a software thing .

Thanks for the advice. My van only weighs 1500kg. I'll just tinker around with auto, sports mode and the paddle shift to see what suits best.

The problem with Hobby in the UK is that a lot of the travelling fraternity use them and as a result many campsites won't let them in.

I had my first tow in my FFRR at the weekend and what a difference to my previous tug! Even in the wind on Sunday it didn't feel like there was anything behind me even though it is updated to 2000kg.

Nearlee I like the look of the segovia, was thinking of replacing our 10y.o lunar, but what put me off was the washroom arrangement. How does it work in practice, seems like you shut off either side , which struck me a a bit impractical with kids in the rear compartment? There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

@northern monkey
My current van has end washroom so in night have to creep past kids to go toilet, with a centre washroom then either us or kids can go without disturbing other, good theory will let you know how we get on in practice Rolling with laughter
But have noticed lots of new Van's with centre washrooms. Remember:- amateurs built the ark
