LTB00454 Update.

I'm trying to sort out a slow speed [almost stopped] flat spot and then a sudden surge of power on my 4.4 tdv8.
Just wondered if anybody has had similar issues and if the LTB00454 update has helped cure it?
I know the update was for a higher speed concern but I'm sure I've read on here that people have reported a smoother take off as well.
Thanks Kev.

Whilst the LTB refers to cruise control at motorway speeds, at that speed the engine is still at quite low revs and on light throttle. On motorway hills on CC the gearbox drops a gear so the conditions mentioned in the LTB no longer apply.

I had mine's PCM updated to the latest level with the reason provided to the dealer being the LTB, but my hope was to improve light throttle take-off and light throttle torque converter behaviour after turning a suburban corner. I was aware that the PCM was 3 levels down from the latest level yet my vehicle was April 12 build, after this LTB was released so I was hoping that the update for the LTB would be on top of the other 2 updates for which I hadn't found any LTB reference. Those hoped-for improvements have been realised, making the vehicle very pleasant to drive around the streets.

The s/w update doesn't single out a particular LTB, instead to apply the latest version applicable to your particular vehicle.

Mine didn't have the extreme behaviour that you're encountering but mine's PCM could have been at a very much later version than your 2011's. An IIDtool will show your vehicle's current s/w version and the latest version for each module, from which the number of missed updates can often be deduced.

PS Make sure that the MAP sensor isn't clogged with carbon which can have a big impact on drive-ability.

Thanks for the reply. I presumed you could have just a specific numbered update done. Are you saying that if I have a software update that it will update everything available?
I have cleaned the MAP sensor. Cheers Kev.

If you ask for the update for this LTB then the PCM will be updated to the latest level which is likely to include updates for other improvements but only for the PCM. You would have to ask for either all ecus or just specific ecus to be updated to the latest levels to have them updated. My local dealer wouldn't update all ecus but updated a couple of others at my suggestion hoping to resolve other issues that were being experienced, being the centre display often restarting shortly after start-up which may have been overcome with a BCM update or updates to the display etc and a gearbox update if available in case it helped with the excessive torque convert slippage on take-off and after slow street corners. The BCM and display ecus were updated but the gbox was already at the latest level. The IIDTool says that the drivers and passenger front door modules and a few others are back-level but I didn't bother with those.

I really appreciate your input on this. I will get the PCM updates done and keep my fingers crossed. Thanks Kev.

Thanks Craig. My dream car is spoiling my expectations and it drives me insane when I can't fix it. I've [finally] managed to get a diagnostic slot at a MD on 5th August. They seemed very vague about updates and never heard of the problem I'm having. Only to be expected!!! It seems nowadays that if the diagnostic machine shows nothing they don't have a clue.
My local Indy can't do software updates.
Am I allowed to ask you where your company is to be able to look at it if the MD can't sort it?
Thanks for your time, Kev.
