United Kingdom 2014 Range Rover Vogue SDV8 Fuji White
Sim Cards & Apps

Hi Alll

Long time lurker here. Just upgraded my 2014 L405 for a 2019 one. Love it, seats are much comfier and entertainment systems much better especially with car play.

I have a few questions.

The dealer has reset and i have logged into the apps feature. It show connected to the car and i can see journeys and remote start it etc.

It has a sim card holder, i believe its an old deactivated sim in it, i probably won't bother putting one in as far as i can see it only updates the sat nav traffic. What are the advantages to putting one in?

Also if the sim is not working how is the car communicating with the app, does it have another hidden sim card?

Thanks

It has a second built in SIM.

If you’re using Apple Car Play or Android Auto for maps/traffic then there’s no real benefit in having a SIM. I got one because I like to use the built in Nav sometimes and it’s only £45 for a 24GB SIM that lasts for 24 months. I’ve got unlimited data on my phone so could tether to that but it doesn’t always let you connect something without switching sharing on/off. MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid
