No amused. I was referring to Brexit for UK members resident in France. Sad

I assume that your original post was asking what the attitude of the French is to Brits. I can't say we are noticing any difference. John

Ahh I was thinking more their reaction to Brits holidaying in France in light of Corona and the view of the level of risk we pose and as a consequence how welcoming...

As elsewhere, the economy needs tourists and, provided one follows the rules, mainly common sense, there is no particular problem. John

We'll be going through Netherlands, Germany and Poland on Sunday so I will see if we get any reaction from the locals. Netherlands we won't even get out of the car though.

Someone I know has just arrived in the boot of Italy and didn't have any issues travelling the 2,300kms from home, but he didn't stop in France. Apparently the Italians are more relaxed in the south and most of the tourists are Italian. MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

OK thanks. I have seen a poll somewhere indicating 53% of French don't want Brit tourists!

I haven't noticed any difference in the 'welcome' over previous years.

I'd guess that 53% unwelcome is not dramatically different than usual. In a poll of average brits, how many would you estimate want french tourists in the UK ?

As John says, bring a mask & you'll be OK - I found most shops 50/50 - even the local Mayors office 'only' had a sign up saying you had to wear a mask if you felt ill. However, as with the UK things are starting to tighten up.

I'm in Andorra this week & it's pretty much masks everywhere - I've seen people walking their dogs in the middle of nowhere with a mask on.... but other areas seem OK with no mask outside - however, absolutely everywhere requires a mask inside - one supermarket even mandated plastic gloves before you were allowed in Shocked .

France

Yer tiz in English for those who prefer Shakespeare to Molière:
When and where is it compulsory to wear a mask in France?
Face masks are now compulsory in France in a variety of situations - at pain of a hefty fine. Here is a guide to the new rules.
When do the changes come into effect?
The new rules come into effect on Monday, July 20th, health minister Olivier Véran announced over the weekend.
When first announcing the new rule, President Emmanuel Macron said he wanted it in place by August 1st, but that timetable has been sped up by Prime Minister Jean Castex amid concern at the rising number of Covid-19 cases in France.
What do the new rules say?
The new rule is in addition to the rule which is already in force for public transport, which says that all users of public transport (including taxis and Ubers) must wear a mask or face a €135 fine.
The new rule makes it compulsory for everyone over the age of 11 to wear a mask in any indoor public space.
This includes shops, banks, libraries, retail centres, covered markets, government buildings and offices, museums and tourist sites - in short any establishment that receives members of the public.
The list also includes places of worship, hotels (in communal areas), covered sports facilities and temporary structures such as marquees.
Cafés, bars and restaurants already have a protocol in place - although until now enforcement of it has varied depending on the business - which requires customers to wear a mask when they enter and remove it only when seated at a table. Trips away from the table, for example to the toilet, will require a mask and sitting at the bar or counter is not allowed.
Any business or tourist site which is not in an enclosed space - for example the Eiffel Tower or the Monet gardens at Giverny - will be within their rights to continue to require visitors to wear masks and to refuse entry to anyone who does not.
Masks are not compulsory for walking down the street but in outdoor areas like public parks and beaches it is up to local authorities to decide what rules to impose.” It's "bébéchoon", ackcherly, with accents. 'Steve' to my chums.
20 years ownership of Solihull products, ALL GONE NOW, sniff!
Current motor: Suzuki S-Cross 4WD auto, 1.4 petrol. Oh so reliable! 7 years now and no problems. Oh, all right then, a leaking shocker replaced under guarantee.
