Change the wife ? Rolling with laughter

I’m surprised she didn’t jumP at the spiffing journey you are suggesting.

Didn’t know there was an over 60’s package... will check it out for another time .

We have booked a trip over to our house in Normandy , France & some friends will join us for a few days. My guess is this lot is going to flare up again fairly swiftly, and we might only get one visit this year , maybe two.

Then it’s a long autumn/winter ahead. Make hay guys..... Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

He who dies with the most toys wins...

Bill,
I have just checked, they are both actually over 55 packages.
I have used both Spanish Paradors and Portuguese Pousada packages many times, simply because I love to vary my routes and visit new places.
I stayed at the Pousada in Porto the month it opened after it re-opened following a complete renovation of the former Royal Palace and it is no exaggeration to say we were treated like Royalty. That one night made the whole trip unforgettable.

The section of the Route Napoleon between Grenoble and Sisteron was particularly enjoyed in the days we used to go motorcycling in France. Only Range Rovers since 1988

I drive to Gdansk, Poland, twice a year and this year we had to cancel our Easter trip. In late 2019 we booked the ferry for July 2020, as we do every year, so I'm very nervous about the governments announcements this coming week as to which countries we will be able to travel to and from.

I really miss this drive, in the RR it is so easy and so much fun, about 13 hours plus stops and traffic from Europort.
Sad

You should be ok for this trip. All the EU internal borders are open again and I knoe a number of people that have flown to Berlin and driven into Poland or flown to Gdansk and drove back to Germany. Early leaks in the press indicate that France and Netherlands will be countries on the list so travelling in from either of those should mean there is no need to quarantine on return to the UK. Although I know the announcement is about air bridges it will be hard for them to to have a different system at the ports. 🙂

The actual quarantine seems farcical if I am honest. My friend flew back to the UK 12 days and just had to complete a form on landing at Manchester confirm their isolation address and how they would get there. The border official confirmed they just had to trust people to isolate because there is no system or resources in place to check people are adhering to their self isolation. If we can't trust some people to self isolate on a beach for a few hours how can they expect some people to follow these self isolation rules. 2008 TDV8

i watched some 5 minutes of good morning programme earlier and it featured someone who drove down to Bergerac to stay with relatives...eurotunnel made her stay in the car during the journey and she also commented that because staying where she was, in the countryside, the risk of catching the virus was minimal and she had more chance of risk by shopping in a UK supermarket.. ... - .- -.

I drove down today - the tunnel was quiet, you have to stay in your car whilst on the train, but other than that business as usual.

No extra forms, questions or faffing.

I stopped at 2 service stations, one of them had signs saying mandatory face masks, but at least half the peiople in there were not wearing one.

Now the FCO advice has changed, I expect a stampede.....

Drove up the M5 yesterday afternoon and oncoming traffic looked decidedly more Cornwall based camping then I’ve seen in a while! So let’s hope Devon & Cornwall isn’t the next hotspot to be locked down! God knows the local economy must be on its arse by now though!!!

Great run until we hit Bordeaux - the rocade (ring road) seems to have several sets of roadworks both ways, so slow around that but all in all a good run.

Been very busy where we are today though, loads of (mainly french) arriving for their holidays.

How are you all finding the attitude of the French to Brits being there? We were due to drive down to Biarritz for a few days in June which had to cancel and in two minds whether to book again

Sympathetic. Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter i

PS. The French are just like everyone else. If you've got money to spend they are quite willing to take it. Shocked

On a serious note make sure you have masks as they are required in most shops. John
