As I understand it the two wires for the DRL connect to 1. ignition live and 2. Headlight feed so it lights up with ignition and turns off when headlights are on. This is the functionality I’m looking for and what I need to know is which wires at the headlamp I can tap into to achieve this.

If i did buy a DRL switch i still need to know which two wires to tap in to.

I also don’t want the DRLs on when the headlights are on.

So I think the main thing I need is which wires or pins on the headlight connectors give me ignition on and headlamp on.

side light feed [positive] means the drl switch will switch off the drls when side lights come on,

headlight dipped feed [positive] means drls will be stiil be on with side lights but go off with headlights..

ignition feed will come from the fuse box on the left in the engine compartment.. ... - .- -.

Thank you Stan, that's great.

Out of interest would there be an ignition feed at the headlight connector? I would have thought the factory DRLs use one so there might be one there already - I was guessing perhaps PIN 14 from the list you posted?

By the way is there a colour key for the chart you posted by any chance please?

Just keen to figure out if B is Blue, Black or Brown and what some of the others could possibly be like GU? Hopefully there will be some numbers on the connector itself.

Many thanks

not sure about the ignition feed from the headlight wiring..from memory i think i might have looked for one and not found anything hence the fuse box feed..

as for the wiring colours , i can only suggest looking in the WM..i'm sure i've seen wiring diagrams with colouring in there.. ... - .- -.

Australia 2003 Range Rover HSE Td6 Java Black

Have a look at the pictures from my install of LED DRLs around headlights to see where to source ig.

https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic30311.html

There is plenty of room inside the environment box for the fuse (I took the pics during testing and moved the fuse inside later).

B is Black
Bl is Blue
Br is Brown

If there are two letters like B/R this would signify Black/Red (usually a Black wire with a Red tracer line through it...)

If your looking for an ignition live then they are never going to be Black or Brown as they are always an "E" (earth)

Have a google search sir, there are plenty of guides available Thumbs Up

Many thanks, really appreciate the info. I've googled it and while I've found various guides for various DRLs and controllers and installs for the wire splices mainly for the RRS I haven't found one that matches this type of DRL and my desired functionality of DRL on with ignition and off with side/headlights on.

I'm thinking from Stan's chart the ignition live is either pin 14 or will need a run to the fusebox and the other wire goes to pin 4 which is the sidelight positive.

I got hold of a good quality UK made switch and spent the last few hours taking the car apart (ehy on earth does the bumper need to come off to take out a headlamp!!!)

I’ve spent hours trying to find a sidelight or dipped beam positive which the switch needs to dim the DRLs and I just cant find the right pin. There’s only 16 and I’ve tested them all. The only pins that change voltage when the sidelights or dipped are on seem to be 4 and 11. The problem is that they change voltage but are never zero volts once ignition is on. Pin 4 is 7v and pin 11 is 10.5v as soon as ignition is on even when the lights are off

I’d really appreciate any help with this as I’m at my wits end with it.

I just can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong.... heeeeeeeelp please.

Thanks Stan
Fitted DRL / Fog Lights yesterday, your info right back at the start of this thread was spot on Thumbs Up Live feed from fuse box and Blue/Slate wire - perfect.

Saved me having to figure it out myself. Anything can be made to work if you fiddle with it long enough (and have deep pockets|)
