If there’s one thing it doesn’t lack is pulling power. Think I’d like to have a drive of a remapped one, but wouldn’t do it to mine....

Alive Tuning did my TD5 Disco 2 back in about 2007 when Gary was still working from his house.

Echo this The gearbox is already at its torque input limit. A PROPER remap will take this into account, and not put any extra torque through the box, but will give a much more even spread of torque throughout the rev range Pub/FB figures are all well and good, but not when its your own 6k gearbox on the line |

I had my 4.4 tdv8 remapped and did about 120k with it and no issues , just speaking from my own experience and not encouraging or discouraging anyone else. The torque was upped by about 15% and power by the same. I sold it with 252000k kilometres on it and it just hit 290000 with no obvious problems. The same mapper ( not any of the ones mentioned here) has done 3 other 4.4 tdv8s and 1 sdv8 so far without recorded incident.

On the 4.4 in my view you should ask why? If for example it gives you a 15% increase in power, how often did you run flat out before? It maybe just me getting old and cranky but rarely did I use full throttle and therefore there would be nothing to be gained from a re-map. They don't improve MPG that's for sure, they often make the display wildly optimistic by increasing the fuel rail pressure. For me, I wouldnt bother. BMW i3 Electric Car

This is where I'd like an improvement but for my very short test with the EGR pipe blanked the delay was gone, with immediate throttle response presumably due to more oxygen, suggesting that just disabling EGR might be sufficient. However I couldn't leave the plate fitted because the engine braked quite savagely on the slightest reduction in throttle, possibly due to the EGR butterfly being closed to increase EGR which was blocked. Since the recent PCM update to the latest level the off-the-mark response on light throttle is a little better but is still less than desirable although a wider initial throttle seems more responsive without being too excessive. |

Leaving toll booths on the French Motorway system! Joining motorways (to clear out the DPF) A or B road overtakes... Between roundabouts in Milton Keynes! "Why?" "Dunno, it's fun!" |

Well, with all the speed cameras and such everywhere nowadays, the "between roundabouts" grand prix maybe our last fun element of driving left |
