Should this be fitted in its compressed position or extended position....OR does it not matter.

(I ordered the part from Rob at Duckworth and it arrived in its extended position).

From memory, you fit it compressed, and then use something to release it... there is a online source of how to do the whole job, and it mentions how to do it.

Thanks for the reply but just for clarity its the tensioner that is fitted from outside ....into the engine block on the drivers side.

(i 'think' you may be referring to the tensioners that sit within the 2 small cam chains inside the block. Apologies if im totally wrong)

i meant the lower timing chain tensioner. you have to fiddle with the clip, to latch it, so it stays in, whilst compressed, and when fitted, it will pop out and remain under spring tension, when the oil pressure forces it out.
