Yet more failure, spent a few hours trying to order the seal, finding them for 2 dollars then getting hit with $80 shipping fees I got it for $6 for a total of $21 including taxes shipping etc direct from Ford. Thinking jobs done I poured a drink and went out to water the garden . I come back inside to find 2 emails first confirming order and completed payment second e mail cancelling order as no shipping from USA at the moment due to the corona virus and refund with me in 2-3 days .... must try harder tomorrow

United Kingdom

Hi all , its been a while since I have been here , as I really had nothing to update.
I was going to go back to the garage and get the DPF cleaned etc , but due to Covid I really didnt fancy going back to the city .
The first thing I could do was to check for any intake leaks , I ordered some silicon pipe for the donut ,as I had the first generation hoses on mine . During the strip down to fit these I discovered the leak was where the throttle body joins the donut.

The little green gasket that was shown in the pic earlier in the thread. Mine was not fitted correctly at some point(not me) and was split. A liberal use of instant gasket and it seems to work....need to clean the DPF to be sure

I looked online and for roughly the same price as revisiting the garage (man maths) I could buy the machine and fluid to clean the DPF myself.
My first try ended in failure after around a month of promises which ended up with just an email saying order failed.
The next try was for the Bardhal kit , I ordered this 3 times from different companies and every time it failed.
I then managed to buy a machine (not Bardhal) from a company that supplies garage equipment . This was delivered for around 60 euros.
The fluid (Bardhal) was sourced eventually for 80 euros for the 3 part kit.
I also purchased an Icarsoft v2 from UK delivered for 150euros .

Yesterday I set about the cleaning process, really easy , apart from the machine only a pair of grips was needed to release the clip from the pressure sensor hose. access was easy .
My tool came with quite short lengths of pipe ,so I swapped them for longer ones ,so i could sit in my car and rev the engine with the tool hanging just outside the drivers door and I could then press the trigger really easily.

All in it took about 3 hours to apply the fluids , It got dark so I decided to do the regen today.

Drove to the Shell garage , added 15 litres of fuel as per instructions for the regen fluid . Hooked up the Icarsoft and tried to do the regen. All went smoothly and soot level was reading 35g.

I then drove up and down the mountain pass 4 times watching the soot level ,first rise to 39 then start to drop ....all the way to 0 !
The Icarsoft then instructed me to turn the car off and it reset all the codes and no more red triangle on the dash.

Finally I had full power and then went up and down the mountain driving as hard as possible to wake up the 2nd turbo that had the summer off ,and to try and trigger another red triangle through an intake leak....success no problems at all.

Got home and rescanned the car ,no more codes , but for some reason the car is saying service required , and I know it doesnt need one , and I cant clear it on my Icarsoft .

All in all I am pleased with my new tools , the Icarsoft is a godsend and was worth it for being able to force a regen with very high soot level, the tool to apply the DPF fluid worked well and has other uses such as EGR cleaning.

I have now ordered a reserve DPF cleaning solution from a different brand JLM (40 euros) that I will use as part of my annual service .

A bit of a lifestyle change is required from me now, instead of fuel from the village petrol station , I will go to the Shell and then drive up and down the mountain pass to try and maintain my new clean DPF.

Now sat here with a bottle of Mavrud feeling pleased with my self , thanks for all the tips and advice
Aaron

Hi Aaron,

Good news, well done. 35g is very high.

Would be great if you could do a write up showing the process, the product(s) etc in more detail.

Regards,
Greg Cheers, Greg

Aaron,

Your early service reminder could well be due to Fuel in oil dilution (caused by active regens when the car pumps diesel into the exhaust to raise temps)

Check with your Icar tool. The level for changing oil is 7.

+1 with Dolphinboy regarding the service message. Ideally you need to get an oil change ASAP if your reading is 7 or above 2011 TDV8 Vogue SE
