First Range Rover

After being in German cars for 20 years, I’ve bought a 19MY SDV8 Autobiography in Byron blue. As you’ll all know, there aren’t many options available so it’s fairly standard, just has the 22” wheels, fridge, black burr ash trim and cabin ionisation. I’ve added deplorable side steps, the cost of which made me wince a bit.

My last car was a 2017 750i M Sport with close in £30k of options, the RR is missing a couple of things I’m used to but it’s closer than anything else I looked at. Main reason for the change is the need to transport 2 x (tall) teenage boys and a small baby in a very large car seat. Most cars I looked at weren’t quite wide enough for the latest car seats with extra side protection and didn’t have a comfortable middle seat. Though is end up going to for a Vogue SE because of the larger boot and wider middle seat base, but the angle of the backrest/armrest made it less comfortable, which is great as I wanted the Autobiography.

I appreciate I’m probably in the minority, but I wanted one with silver wheels and ideally without the black pack that look suits the car in my opinion. I didn’t think I’d find one, so was going to compromise and get the wheels changed after purchase, but then I spotted this one which I think looks great.

I think that it looks great too. Any pics of the interior? For awareness, you can fit 3 x large child seats seats across the rear bench in a Citroen Grand Picasso. Thumbs Up

Yes, much better with proper alloys. If you are going to paint them black, might as well have steel wheels.... Whistle

Oh....too late now Very Happy

Couple of interior pics, but you can’t see how nice the wood trim is. Had individual piano black trim in the 750, so is nice to have something a bit different.

Thank you.

It’s missing a few toys that I had before, but it’s mostly the kids who’ll miss out (rear massage, table, twin screens) and it’s nice to have something different to learn about after 4 BMWs in a row and looking forward to the remote climate when the winter comes. Hoping the headlights will be good as I got used to laserlights which were superb. MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

Got a new record today. I had my first jab and was listing into a call on the way back so was pottering along at 65mph or so, but even so it's pretty impressive given that there were a number of traffic lights and roundabouts coming out of Northampton.

I normally am lucky to get 30mpg and rarely get above 3.5 on the acceleration score. I don't fret about economy, just aware of it because I use the trip screen and app to record mileage.
