Problem revs dropping

Help just this week I've replaced the fuel pump and MAF sensor believe it was or air sensor will check recipt. Since then when I'm at some lights sat in drive but foot on the brake the revs drop and then I get a puff of smoke when they come back up. Only drops for a second of so.

Any help please.

Will be taking it back to garage first thing Monday morning as it wasn't doing it when it went in.

what colour smoke?

Initial thoughts are an air leak on thew fuel line allowing the hungry engine to draw in air. 2010 Disco XS TDV6, 2009 Freelander 2 GS

Hard to tell what colour smoke whilst sat in car it isn't White like if turbo had gone more of just a puff of dark smoke.

Also noticed that once this has happened the power isn't there straight away takes a second or so to get the power.

Does make sense with air leak etc have to get it back to garage (not open till Monday) air sensor was replaced so could be faulty

Quick check on the MAF. Unplug it and drive it. Does it solve it?

Might I suggest you fill out your profile. If it wasn't for the mention of a turbo we wouldn't know whether it was diesel or petrol - and no clue on year.

Thumbs Up

Alright John how's the 4.4 going?

Will update profile when next in computer thanks dan.

It's a TD6 on a 52 plate.

Any advice where the MAF is located in the TD6

Love it. Really love it.

Find the airbox, work your way back to the engine inlet manifold. It's the sensor in line there. Should be a Bosch MAF.

If it isn't a Bosch MAF or genuine MAF, then that's most likely your problem. Replacement MAF's are always crap... Used to have:

Thanks guys. Garage managed to fix the problem free of charge.

Apparently it was a software update for the air flow sensor. He said most of the time these don't need to be coded in but mine did Shocked

Anyway cars running like a dream again and hopefully for a long time Laughing

Thanks again guys
