First of all a big thanks to Joe90 for his help with the FSR's.

Quite easy to remove the two panels in the drivers footwell & after some looking I could just see & touch the FRS. No way could I get my hand in there (they are not the size of hams either).
To the rescue came my next door neighbour Pete, more used to fiddly jobs on serious road bikes. It was a Censored to get out being the older longer design, but the new one went in easily (for him).

Started up, went for a 15minute run to check everything else which seems OK, turned it off & over 15/20 minutes watched the current draw drop to virtually zero.

Left the battery connected overnight & it started OK this moring, so - fingers crossed from now on - I'll start putting fuses (CD-Player, SatNav CD, FBH ect) back again over the next few days.

I'll be quite honest, although a few members suggested the FSR I carried on looking elsewhere for ages - how wrong was I ? Now, where can I get some humble pie from ?

Last night there appeared to be an intermittent 2A discharge & the sound of a fan (smaller than the main blower & larger than the tiny dashboard one that senses the cabin temperature.

Battery was, predictably, flat this morning.

Any idea guys please. 2003 Range Rover Vogue TD6

No experience of that model, but when my 2012 WM had battery drain the problem the first time was fuel burning heater software and the second time locking software. The car went off to the dealer (still under warranty) and they ran a diagnostic check to find the problem. They also recharged the battery fully and tested its capacity to hold charge in future. The first battery (aged under a year) was finished and replaced under warranty, the second was OK and worked fine until I traded the car in. I was told the battery had to be fully charged for that test to be done/possible.

I don't know how the software on your car would compare, but I'd be getting a diagnostic check done, plus battery test on future capacity. Only Range Rovers since 1988

Try disconnecting your FBH (Fuel Burning Heater), see if the fan noise goes away .

I've pulled fuse # 59 <auxiliary> already - is there anywhere else to disconnect it please ? 2003 Range Rover Vogue TD6

That is it. (other than disconnecting the wires!)

Have you ruled out the fan in the black box that cools the ECUs ? .

I'm almost certain it's the main heater fan - you can hear it from under the bonnet towards the bulkhead & from inside the cabin. 2003 Range Rover Vogue TD6

Hmmm, does smack of FSR......

Check it is properly seated in the socket (easy to get this wrong, then the FSR will overheat and go pop)

Tried the other FSR & invested in a new genuine LR one,

Also replaced the bonnet switch with a brand new LR one.

Have tried pulling various fuses and still have a 2A drain after 30 minutes shut down.

Red LED visible on gear selector & LED on the SatNav CD-ROM off (unit disconnected).

Every so often the main blower fan runs on lowest speed for a couple of seconds causing battery drain to increase to 3.75A while it runs. 2003 Range Rover Vogue TD6

The new battery was replaced by an identical one, apparently, I now now regarded as a "budget" one.

At the suggestion of an ex Landrover tech' a Yuasa Battery was fitted which does not lose it's charge overnight/go flat.

So far, so good - 4 x mornings started a treat.

However, I still have a couple of issues ;

The red airbag light does not go out - this was intermittent anyway & would "come & go" - now it stays on all the time.

During fuse pulling whilst on a wild goose chase I had the <air> come up on the display a few times but it would reset by turning the steering from lock to lock, then when the car was in access mode (before the Yuasa battery) I disconnected the towbar multiplug & on reconnecting got the display warning. The suspension does not operate at all & no lights by the switch.

The LR tec' said that his reader/scanner would communicate with the car.

Last week I had operating suspension & battery going flat, this week I have no (touch wood) battery issues but inoperable suspension.

Any ideas please guys ? (mostly suspension wise). 2003 Range Rover Vogue TD6

After one garage (with ex:Landrover Master Tecnician failed to find the cause Discovery Garage at Whitstable found that the circuits on fuse 27 were the culprit not allowing the vehicle go to sleep.

Rather than open another can of worms (& save some expense) the circuit was re-fed via the ignition using a relay - I don't have all the interior lighting unless the ignition is on, but I can live with that, at least for the time being.

So, a week in with normal use including 2 consecutive days of no use it all seems fine, even with the new "so called budget battery" which the first garage thought was the issue.

It was not the "usual suspects" - FSR, HVAC unit or the headlight wipers.

I had a customer bring me there FF a couple of years ago after spending a lot of money in various garages trying to find a battery drain, I traced it to a certain fuse that wouldn’t let the car sleep properly but instead of a bypass I was asked to carry on and I found a very well hidden tracker that the internal battery backup had failed so the car’s battery was trying to charge it continually, the best part is they had owned the car from virtually new and had no idea it even had a tracker. L322 4.4 TDV8 Current
L320 3.6 TDV8 Going
L322 3.0 TD6 Gone

Defender 90 Gone

I had the glovebox light fail, and replaced it (did not know there was a light until this forum enlightenment me). However what if the glovebox light stays on? Have you looked at the swith for that? 2008 HSE B. Grey
