Hi guys I'm new on here.
Looking to buy a ff vogue 4.2 sc. It's pretty much ideal, needs a few jobs doing but should be relatively straight forward.
I have a bit of a sticking point. It's an 07 car however it's only had 6 services. The gearbox has been flushed, the sc oil hasn't. It puts me off a little as ideally I'd like it to be serviced on a more regular basis.
I think the car is just under 120000 miles currently. Would appreciate your opinions on this as I feel it's a big risk buying one with only 6 stamps.

Depends on what other work was done and also when the miles were put on it and of course the price

Its had new brakes all round last year, new air suspension redone 3 or 4 years ago, new suspension bushes rear last year. Problems: rev cam doesnt work properly, as far as I know it would need a new camera that I've seen ebay upgrades
No air con as theres a rad leak at the front of the car
Digital tv only works when stationary (not sure if I'd need to buy a new module or not)

It's on 120k miles, 9k miles in owners last 2 years owning

I would be more worried about the fact it has only done 9k in last couple of years mine is same age and is on 190+ but I do lots off work on it reckon about 2 to 3k a year including tyts but I do 20 odd k a year so. It should be ok I reckon if cheap enough

I dont see a problem with it the tv is only meant to work when stationary, reverse camera a £5 part

I thought the tv would work whilst moving in the back?

You can probably have the tv on In the back whilst moving, but the signal will likely drop in and out. The system was primarily designed for TVs in houses, which tend to be stationary, unless something bad is happening....

Sometimes you will even need to retune it, say in the work car park, and then again at your house....

I thought it was an issue as the seller pointed it out as a cault and that a new tv module was needed

You could of course have a specific issue with the tv in that car, but even when it’s working, signal drops in and out. You ought to get a signal somewhere, so try retuning when stationary on the test drive.

Seller might already have tried that.....hence him saying it needs a new module. Sounds like more investigation needed either way, but I wouldn’t let it put you off if everything else meets your requirements.

I'm not sure but it might need diff oil doing? Also does the Supercharger oil need to be changed?
Are the timing chains an issue on the 4.2s?

Diff oil:
If you buy the 4.2SC and there is no proof of Diff oil being changed recently, it should be changed. It’s an easy enough and rewarding DIY job which would cost you pretty much only for the required amount of oil if you have some fairly big standard car maintenance tools:

“Timing chain” - not heard of this being a problem for the 4.2SC. If belts and/ or chains should be replaced at set intervals on any vehicle though, they should be done properly and on time.
