Calibrate ACC 2011 4.4 tdv8

Hi All,

I hope you are all staying safe.

When I use my 2011 4.4tdv8 on the motorway and engage the ACC it seems to have a "beam" that is too wide for a std motorway lane.

I think the issue I have has been mentioned before , but I cannot find a resolution. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Even if I move out into an overtaking lane nice and early, If I am placed in the ctr of the lane the ACC still engages the brakes as it sees the lorry in the first lane and decides there is a risk. I find I have to be right on the outside edge of the lane , almost on the white line to try and avoid the ACC engaging and applying the brakes.

Changing the sensor range to the lowest level still does not make it a useable system.

Effectively it makes the ACC of no use unless I want to sit behind the lorries in the inside lanbe at 55 / 60 mph. Std CC would be of more use.

Does anyone else have the same problem?
Is there any way to calibrate the sensor? alter the angle it sees?
Is there a mechanical solution to tilt the sensor?

Thanks

The IID tool can re-calibrate it, looks like it does what you need..... maybe worth sending Pat at Gap a message and ask..?

I suspect the sensor is out of alignment. It's mounting has both vertical and horizontal adjustment and I suspect that the sensor isn't pointing directly ahead. Mine is pointing too high because over slight crests it stops sensing the vehicle ahead so I need to remove the bumper and adjust the sensor downwards a little.

The sensor for your model is located behind the plastic bumper cover on the offside (UK drivers side) of the car.

Finally had a chance to take the Fatty out.

Set up the calibration using IID and it took 12 Miles for the light to stop flashing.

Straight onto a MWay and it is perfect. Can now set and it will slow me down approaching a lorry going slower in forn in the saem lane, pull out to ivertake and off she goes, can sit in the ctr of the lane overtaking and no more sudden braking.

Thanks very much Pete. now it works as it should.

Cheers
