4.4 is BMW, not a bad engine but does have a few issues

Thanks Haylands, Is it the BMW engine with the head gasket issue I've been reading about?

I see there is also a 4.4 JLR engine at the same time as the 4.2 JLR engine is 2006.

Pre-facelift, the V8 is a 4.4 BMW M62; post-facelift there is a 4.2 litre supercharged Jaguar AJ-V8 or a 4.4 NA version (and the 3.6 TDV8). |

I drove plenty of 2002 to 2007 models through 2019 before settling on a 2006 4.2 Supercharged it was the awesome power delivery that got me and to hell with the 9 mph that I have averaged since. (obviously covid restricted)

Go for the 07 MY, great petrol 4.4 engine, better interior. Mine has done 120.000 mls with 114000 on lpg, (probably shouldn't say this) without problems. Car is now nearly 14 years old and still proud of it. But then again, I tap her on the dash and thank her every day. Ofcourse normal things like suspension, alternator renewed, gearbox flush done and those kind of things, but to me it's the best model they build. |

If you can find one then the 4.4 AJV8 jag 07MY is the rarest, and if you can find one get a Vogue SE. Less of them out there than the SC, and while it hasn’t got the outright grin factor of the SC it’s a good engine and by many accounts very reliable (engine wise).
