OK, here is some more

I have put together this plan based on the documentation I have. I have main dealer service records up to 2016, 95,000 miles but no information on any works done, so I am assuming that only the standard LR service schedule has been carried out.
The original selling dealer has no records, but I will try and contact the others.
The rest of the information I have is a bunch of receipts

Note, if you have the electronic locking rear diff you'll need Castrol SAF Carbon Mod Plus as the oil (1.55 litres).

Hi thanks, I like her when I first saw her but she needs some tlc. Yes on my list to check to see which diff I have. That's one issue with not having a build list. Can't see one on my icarsoft reader but I don't know if that reader can see it if its fitted. Not keen on getting underneath until I can get some better axle stands. Range Rover 4.2 Supercharged 2006

The MK11 was a great car a good unrestored example with some tweaks Trumpets on the intakes, Stainless near straight through exhaust and an LSD. Oh and less rust than on my SC! Nice RR Bigbo, I like her.

I've done the oil service this week including a spark plug change, nice simple introduction to L322 maintenance, yeah right!

The spark plugs are a pig of a job to do, so I though a few notes may help others, however I would say if you're not adept in spannering you may like to get someone else to do the job! it's taken me 3 days to complete.

So first task is to get access to the plugs
1 Remove Plenum chamber. whilst its off the car I found it easier to change the cabin filter rather than do it on the car.

2. Remove the engine cover, this is when I found out why mine has been loose, one front stud was unscrewed from the intercooler casting and the other front one is broken leaving its remains in the intercooler. So I will need to extract that, its currently soaking in penetrating fluid. A new one has been ordered from Duckworth's. Also I found that the foam is rotten and just fell away and crumbled into small pieces and the foam is not available you have to buy a new cover for £200 so it will go back on with no foam. Out with the vac to clean up the engine bay, it got every where.

3. Remove the coil pack covers.

4. remove all the coil packs. This is where it gets tricky. Left hand bank plugs 1 - 3 not too bad, but don't drop the bolts! they are difficult to find. Removing the connectors is not easy at all, you just press the tab and pull the plug off but there is very little room I found it best to remove the coil pack part the way out and release the connector using a small screwdriver to lift the tab. But doing that on number 4 is very difficult I ended up using the small screwdriver under the tab and a very large screwdriver to push the connector off.
The coil pack slide out easily except number 4 that needed jiggling about a bit.
The right hand bank is a little easier but number one needs the device (something to do with air suspension i think) to the left unbolting and moving out of the way to get the coil pack out. Some say to remove the oil breather but I could not get the electrical cable covering the bolts for the breather out of the way.

The final task is to get the plugs out, all of them are relatively easy to get at but I found that most were very tight and with space so tight you can only get 20 or so degrees of movement. Number 4 Left bank is a challenge as there is very little space to get the plug socket in. ideally you need a 125mm extension bar but I managed with a 150mm wobbly extension. As I pulled the plug out the socket let go of the plug and the next thing I heard was it hitting the exhaust heat shield, no idea where it is now! I also dropped the 1/4 drive socket and extension as well but that ended up on the ground.

Getting the new plugs in was much easier, I suppose I had learned the method for each. Except that number 4, I dropped the plug in the socket into the plug well and then fed the extension in and managed to hook up with the socket.

So what will I do next time (which there won't be!)
Tools
You need a collection of 3/8 drive extension bars and a ratchet and spark plug socket (I ordered one at 1pm on Monday and it arrived 11am Tuesday (great service from Cpl tools)
I used a 1/4 drive sockets for the smaller bolts.
Small screw driver to lift tabs just wiggle it in you can almost hear the connector snap open.
Large screw driver mine was 3 foot long 1/2" blade to push connector off where you cannot get your hand in or better find a 7 year old child to do the job not easy as you sent them away because of the bad language coming from the engine bay lol.

I think I spent about 4-5 elapsed hours on the job over 3 days. Its physically hard as well, leaning into the engine bay you need two hands to support your upper body, I ended up with multiple scratches and bruises on my arms as I leaned on various places to free up my hands.
Would I do it again, erm yes probably but if I had known what a pig of a job it is and we weren't in lock down I would have taken it to a garage (but not a main dealer) hindsight is a wonderful thing. Next time I think I could do it in 2 hours but the plugs will probably outlast my ownership.

Sorry this is so long but I now understand why LR never bothered about build quality as they think when the plugs fail then you just chuck the car away and go and buy another one! Range Rover 4.2 Supercharged 2006

Go and register with JLR Topix, it is free and if you fill in your VIN you can get your build sheet, plus free access to owners manual etc, you can check for outstanding recalls as well..

Can you not tell if you have a locking diff by the off road display on the radio screen on those..? Pete

I think it unlikely to be an import it was built in February 2006, sold September 2006 when the warranty started.
