I'm thinking that the IID Tool is the key ( pardon the pun ) page 127 of the manual says:

Preparation
• Ensure all keys to be programmed are available.
• Ensure the vehicle is unlocked
• All the doors, including the boot, must be closed.
• It is recommended to sit inside the vehicle with all the doors closed whilst you do this.
• Usage of the PC-based controller is mandatory.

When prompted by the tool:
• Switch the ignition on and then off again within 5 seconds
• Remove key from the ignition
• Ensure all doors are closed
Note : The following steps need to be completed within 30 seconds. Do not turn on the ignition until all
keys are programmed.

When prompted by the IIDTool:
• Press and hold the Unlock button on the first key to be programmed.
Whilst the button is being pressed, press the lock button 3 times within 10 seconds.
• Release both buttons simultaneously.
• Repeat steps 1 and 2 for all other available keys.

This WILL set the remotes to work but you will NEVER be able to get it to start the car this needs a programmer like the cn900 mini or other product which can code the immobiliser chip... Current stable:
2006 BMW M6
2007 4.2 V8 S/C FF
Gone:
2002 4.4 V8 FF

oh, I see, does the CN900 mini now support L322 model years BMW based 2002 to 2005 ??

I saw somewhere on another forum (this was a post from around 2018 I think) that the supplier said they are hoping for a software upgrade sometime that will allow it to clone 44 chips as used in the early BMW version L322's, that would make the CN900 a very valuable bit of kit to have !

OK, you don't need the IID to programme the keys as per pcourtney instructions -- the process will work without IID, but as Dan says that simply allows the buttons to work (lock unlock etc) it doesn't programme the chip

CN900 mini required for 2005-2009

2002-2004 are a different system and requires a different programmer. Current: 2011 FFRR Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Is the 2002-2004 system something for the home user or a pro only device?

I have 3 keys one does everything one will open doors and start car but no remote and one just opens doors
I have tried everything and can only get one to do each function at a time so not just the keys to worry about methinks
Just for what it is worth

Dizzy -- you have to strip bits out of the car to programme.

Sandy -- PM me and I'll tell you how to fix part of that.

*All* I'm not trying to be evasive -- but some stuff is probably better not shared publicly Wink Current: 2011 FFRR Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

That's enough information for me. Thank you.

It isn’t actually that hard - you can get the programmer for a tenner! On Ali express or £20 on eBay. You need to remove the ews module and put the chip plug on the chips it then reads what it needs to you can put it back and with that information you can code as many as you need only 02-05 Current stable:
2006 BMW M6
2007 4.2 V8 S/C FF
Gone:
2002 4.4 V8 FF

the EWS is in the centre console

this is a good video showing how you can just lift the centre console just enough to get at the EWS the easy way
