In addition to the Opel Kadett GTE restoration, I also decided to tackle the Range Rover's sound system's lack of bass and the accompanying rattle from the subwoofer.

I added quite a bit of sound deadening material (STP silver) to the front doors and the subwoofer enclosure - its so amazing what that did to the quality of the sound. Bass is much more improved from both doors and subwoofer and rattling is gone.

I ran out of sound deadening material (the material I had was originally for the Maserati) and thus could not do the rear doors but intend doing so as soon as I can get more material.

Good job, always wondered why they put so much under the carpet and so little in the doors and boot floor... Pete

Mrs old Skoda suffered from booming from the boot at a Cruise. Stuck a load of Dynamat in there and it sorted it. Top idea. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Right this arrived today... boat some closed foam too. Anyway do you cut a sheet any mount it over the window access opening or do a cutout and mount some on the onside of the external skin? Current stable:

Dan, I've just used that Noico stuff to do my Golf GTI . Used 80 & then 160 closed cell foam on top.
It's good stuff & easy to use, just take time to apply. Its cut out a lot of noise.

You will also need a roller though, unless you've got one. You need to roll it so the triangles flatten out on the silver foil

On the doors put a sheet / part sheet on the outer door skin & add bits to the inner door frame like pictures above.
They say you only need 25% coverage to deliver 99% of the noise reduction / resonance from a panel.

I did the golf last week & it's made a significant difference, less tinny noises & rattles. if you've bought 36 sqm (I bought the same) you have plenty to cover the boot also. I've used less than half doing this in the golf & may well do the FF next. As like Haylands says it's a surprise the FF wheel well isn't done.

I covered as much as I could of the inner side of the outer skin; the back side of the inner skin and the door panel itself. I probably overdone it but rather that than doing a little part of the door and then finding it not doing what I wanted it to do and then having to remove the door panels again.

I also did the subwoofer enclosure but ran out of material before I could get to the do the outer part of the subwoofer enclosure and the rear doors.

The lockdown in South Africa is such that one can basically only buy food, medication, fuel and clothing - no vehicle parts or similar - thus I will probably have to wait until we at level 2 of the lockdown before I will be able to buy more material.
