Anyhow, here's the pics was promised. looks like a very simple installation to me.

1. A live fitted into the rear fuse box. (pics 1 and 4)
2. A neutral earthed onto the rear panel. (pic 5)
3. Simple clamp-on terminal leads. (pic 2)

I fitted an AGM battery. I don't like battery acid.

Don't permanently connect the 2 batteries because if someone disconnects the front one when the vehicle is involved in a bad accident then the rear one will still be connected which could result in a fire.

I'm looking at doing this as I am currently running a 12v hand wash in the boot of the FFRR.

I will be using one of these

SPLIT-CHARGE-RELAY-12V-140A-140-AMP-VOLTAGE-SENSITIVE

Battery type to be confirmed.

Will update when I have done it.

Re: Second Battery

[quote="zarnd"]I have been looking into this and seen a couple of threads on here about people who have done these and looking for some feedback. This is not something I could make myself so looking at available kits to buy and then fit myself.

Have found two and was looking for some feedback or if anyone has used either?

https://www.luxurylandroverupgrades.com/pr...attery-kit

Or

http://www.traxide.com.au/diy-dual-battery...t90-s.html

I want to be able to run something in the boot from the 12v socket and not worry about the car not starting again if I tan a fridge for example and left the car with it running. Also would like to be able to leave the ignition on to be able to watch tv/dvd whilst stationary without worrying about not starting again

Cheers[/quote

A very good option;

Im curious what your hand wash is as you see the funny thing is i have a water tank fited where people fit this second battery... it gravity feeds to the outside of the car which is for washing my hands

Hi Dave,

Handwash is nothing special, and not fitted permanently. It is made by Teal and heats up the water as you drive, but don't want to take the risk with flattening the battery. (I can look stupid on my own, don't need the RR to assist)

It holds about 3 L of water and the waste drains into the bowl and can be stored until it is emptied.

I see... Great idea. The way things are going we will all have to carry something like this soon Razz

I've seen something similar in some work Vans in Australia I'm sure

Yes they are used in work vans quite alot, I went for this one as it free stands or wall mounts, and holds the waste water.
I have been looking for a while as some building sites don't always have good washing facilities, Plus i normally only remember when I get back to the car.

I'm also interested in the setup in your ffrr. sounds a bit more fitted than mine.

All the bin trucks I've driven have had permanent ones installed - they run off the engine coolant.
Most trucks used for waste also have them. 2003 Range Rover Vogue TD6

Hi Dizzy, Yes mine is a permenant fitment... I will do a to a write up and pics of it very soon as im sure some one will want to do the same, It holds ten liters of water and allows me to wash my hands properly after getting greasy etc however keep in mind it is not heated which might be of importance more so in colder climates where you are perhaps

I do not like the fact that the loom that runs across the bottom of the reccess is now unprotected and very vunrable to rubbing and damage. On my similar instal I lifted the loom up and out and managed to re route it over the rear fuse box out of harms way. I would also strongly recommend a fuse between the second battery and the fusebox 2007 TDV8 VSE
