Oil Leak 4.4TDV8 (Not oil cooler) Help needed

We have an oil leak on our TDV8 2011 L322. However, its not the usual oil leak from the O rings or the Oil cooler gasket, this appears to be coming from the main crankshaft bearing at the front of the engine.

Does anyone have any experience with this, as I have never had an oil leak there before, so I am lacking in the experience department at the moment. Like I said, it appears to be coming from the crank shaft bearing or seal etc. its on the front of the engine as you look at it, and its coming from the main Auxiliary belt pulley. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Unfortunately taking a picture is difficult so I hope I have described it well enough.

Bell housing and back of the engine are clean, no oil leaks to be found.

Unless the seal itself has failed (which it may have but would be unusual) a cause could be pressure in the crankcase due to a blocked crankcase breather system or valve. How many miles on the engine? Have you got any error codes? Do you do a lot of short trips which could cause build up of gunk in the breather (PCV) system?

That's where I would start. Previously a 2008MY Tonga Green Vogue SE 3.6 TDV8

Hi Charles, Nino Nino found an oil leak front of engine on his 2012. Can’t remember details but have a search?

. Cheers, Greg

Thanks everyone, so just to confirm Nino, this was caused by your oil pump? And what exactly was the issue? Was it oil seals or new pump required etc.?

Many thanks
Charles
