Unless the seal itself has failed (which it may have but would be unusual) a cause could be pressure in the crankcase due to a blocked crankcase breather system or valve. How many miles on the engine? Have you got any error codes? Do you do a lot of short trips which could cause build up of gunk in the breather (PCV) system?

Hi Charles, Nino Nino found an oil leak front of engine on his 2012. Can’t remember details but have a search?

Thanks everyone, so just to confirm Nino, this was caused by your oil pump? And what exactly was the issue? Was it oil seals or new pump required etc.?

It was just the plug on the top of the oil pump. loosen the plug apply some silicon and that was it. 2012 TDV8 Black Edition

I had the same. Rovertune fixed it whilst doing other work. Same fix as Nino describes Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"
