I am trying to wire in a dashcam and route the wire from the rearview mirror across to the A pillar and down to the glovebox. But for the life of me I cannot find out how to remove the panel in the roof behind the rearview mirror. It has clips at the back and sides that I have released but the front refuses to unclip.

There are to screws when you open the sunglasses holder.

I looked up in there but missed the two small bolts until your response prompted me to take another look. Now to work out how to get the A pillar trim off and also how to run the rear camera wire to the tailgate.

Get some cable fishing rods, rod front the front to the back in the headlining -- you should be able to get enough of the headlining down at the front by removing the grab handle above the door -- you can get the headlining down at the back and almost get your whole arm in the roof space -- should be able to feed cables through into the tailgate through the rubber cable runs  Current: 2011 FFRR Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

I installed a front and rear dash cam on Sunday, i was surprised how easy it was.

I found that I did not need to remove the light/sunglasses panel, just the A post and D post trims. The two cables were quite easy to tuck under the front of the headliner, ran the camera power cable down to a spare fuse position. The rear cable I ran from the rear to the front after removing the two grab handles and the cargo net/divider clip.

I used electricians access rods to feed the cable from the rear of the car to just in front of the C post near to the grab handle, there seems to be a lot of cables, metalwork etc in the way so I had to try a few times before I found a route through which the usb plug could be pulled. It was then that I just flipped the rubber door seals out of the way allowing the headliner to fall far enough to tuck the cable in place. The liner dropped from behind the B post trim so I did not need to remove that.
In all I spent less than an hour fitting the cameras.

Some care is needed with the A post trim as mine had a badly bent plastic clip caused by a previous owner, I had to gently heat it with my wife's cooks blowtorch to straighten it. Range Rover 4.2 Supercharged 2006

Yesterday I got the front camera, GPS antenna and the DVR wired in powered up and tested. Today is the turn of the rear camera.

The only problem I had was that I could not remove the A pillar trim, so there is about 1" of cable in the top left hand of the windscreen I have not been able to tuck in. I will try again today once the rear camera is installed and tested.

Sorry you did mention that you couldn't remove the A post trim...

I used a thin electricians screwdriver to lever the Air Bag "badge" off the trim behind which is a torx headed screw. Can't remember the size, Once the screw is out then pull the trim starting at the top, it needs careful but firm pressure to remove but mine came away quite easily.

Success!!

Due in large part to the help here, I have managed to get the rear camera installed and removed the A pillar trim so now I can complete a neat setup. I would never have been able to remove the interior lights panel or A pillar trim without help and the many tips on how to run the camera wires to the glove-box were also of great assistance.
