I was hoping someone else might have had the same problem. |

Thank you Stan. The dealership have completed various tests and the SDV8 has numerous sensors. Bit of a mystery! |

Yes that's it. Ok, what about gearbox oil level? Guessing it could be torque converter noise?

I’m not sure if related, but... our 4.4 TDV8 makes an prominent ‘sucking’ noise. I first noticed it whilst reversing with the windows down last year. At first I thought it was drive-train related as I couldn’t recognise such an odd sound. But, even when stationary she makes this ‘whooshing’ or ‘inhaling’ sound when revving at about 1300 or more RPM. It comes from the drivers side front wing, from the upper air intake grate, the black one just as you open the bonnet. It almost sounds like it wants more air. No fault codes in the IID.

Very interesting as there was a very and I mean very slight vibration through the steering wheel. I actually never detected it, but one of the technicians I went out with did. When pointed out I could just feel it.

Not that it helps either of us, but it’s somewhat reassuring to know it’s not unique to my vehicle.

If I was guessing ( which is what your main parts changer is doing !! ) I would say that is one of the idlers for the accessory drive belt . Does the noise reduce if you turn the air con off thereby removing some if the load of the belt ?
