I have mine back now. Whilst it’s not really a big issue, I know it didn’t make it when I first got it. I actually think the noise is now worse than before all the ancillaries were replaced.

Anyone had this diagnose? I've got exactly the same issue

Was doing oil and filters today Inc arb bushes and drop links

I spent quite a while under the car with today with covers off

Listenened to everything with a stethoscope and I am pretty certain the resonance is coming from somewhere on the ace system, I am pretty familiar now with the frequency it's producing, found that all the front ace piped were in tune

Could be something to do with the pump or contamination of oil, I will report back

No, it is still there and variable between hardly noticeable at all to how it was when I first noticed it.

I still suspect that it's either something really simply, like the torque setting being a bit out somewhere or some of the SDV8's are just like that.

It wouldn't bother me in the slightness had I not known that it originally didn't do it.

Shame your dealer could never pin point it but sounds like they tried their best given the amount of new bits fitted.

It sounds like resonance in the intake system to me, I could live with the sound but I don't like the vibration/fizzing that eminates throughout the car.

Very annoying given the engine spends most of it's time between 1 and 2k rpm as described.

Tis usually the cover under the gearbox... There is a 2mm thick metal bracket with a tin temperature resistant aluminium cover that spans most of the plastic gearbox sump... The metal bracket usually fails by cracking! Only way to diagnose it is to remove the 4 10mm bolts that hold the aluminium cover on and inspect the bracket above...

I have also had this exact cooing/whooshing/resonance issue for the last 18 months (2017 SDV8), so have been following closely.

Craig - do you think a cracked transmission cover bracket would cause the 'Pigeon Cooing' noise/steering wheel resonance that LT/northernmonkeyjones initially described (this is the issue that I have too), or will this just cause the rattle/vibration noise experienced by albertocsoares?

I've learned to live with this but it remains irritating nonetheless...

The broken brackets make the kind of resonance you would hear in a bus or a plane. Not a pigeon coo’ing noise BUT… Noises are very subjective! Well worth checking the bracket/cage has not fractured sir…

Forgive my ignorance but would/should this be identified during a transmission fluid service or would the cover stay in situ for this? I had the transmission fluid changed @ 80k miles by the supplying dealer and the noise was present before this...

Possible cause is the Torque convertor oil pump blocked/ falling or possible low oil level in gearbox making the pump struggle.

Hard to tell form the video would need to hear it in real life. X5 40d

Oil pump has been changed for a new one and gearbox oil has been drained twice (as much as is possible) and refilled to the correct level.

It's done over 80k miles now and goes very well, aside from this mystery noise which does seem to vary in intensity. Plus I guess I am used to it now.
