Heated/Cooled seats control knobs not illuminating

Hi,

Not used the heated/cooled seats for a while, turned knob and nothing happens no illumination of the dial or back/base. Sad

Checked passenger side and it's the same Shocked

Guessing it is a power supply issue

Checked the fuses, all seems OK, any pointers

Thanks in advance Thumbs Up Regards

Hi

Looks like you have a similar issue I have with my rear heated seats, I'm sure this issue is likely to be a power issue too. I'm sure if the seat elements go then the buttons would still light up for about 5 seconds before switching off. My seats never worked and lights never worked when the buttons were pressed, then all of a sudden after leaving the interior lights on all night the buttons lit up when I pressed them and would stay on for up to twenty seconds and the seats would start to heat up ! Then after a few days back to no lights when buttons pressed !

Update

Seats have been off for months, and I also noticed the map lights were not working (Interior light was fine)

A couple of days ago I started the RR and noted the map light was on, I immediately tried the heated/cooled seat switches and they lit up.

I stopped the engine and restarted and the map lights and heated/cooled were again non functioning.

So there is a common power feed or I suspect earth issue, and or some logic circuit/relay not working, will explore the wiring diagrams maybe during this lock down period!!

If any one has any suggestions please comment!

Thanks Thumbs Up Regards

Hi everyone, been a while.

I still have my 2008 4.2 Autobiography and the fault persists.

I noticed today that the electric seats and steering column are not powered either (never had need to adjust, just tried today!!)

I am convinced they are all related, possibly to a poor earth

Would any one be able to point me in the direction of a wiring diagram so I can trace the wiring.

I have the workshop manual, but not found anything (mind 3000+ pages Laughing )

Currently the heated/cooled seats, tailgate lights, and the map lights do not work (Interior lights do)

Any thought welcome!! Wink Regards

It might not help but last year my heated seats stopped working checked everything and no reason for it however I had a sporadic fault with an airbag so I traced every element of the airbag system and checked every wire when finished the airbag fault was still there but the heated seats were working. Interestingly a few weeks later the airbag fault disappeared too so who knows - my guess is an earth

Had another session on the RR SC to trace wires, stripped out the glovebox and fuse unit, all appeared ok, tightened a earth cluster in the oh A pillar base, and a couple under the bonnet near the air box. Nothing was corroded

Hey Presto all up and running, heated cooled seats, map lights and boot lights functioning correctly 😁

Been a long haul, hope my post helps someone else.

Thanks for your suggestions😉

Check your earths😁 Regards

That sounds very interesting and useful, I’m sure the issue with my rear heated seats are earth related, I also have no vanity mirror lights and the gear selector doesn’t light up red to show what gear is selected. A few months ago I noticed the gear red selector was on and when I checked the rear seats they started to work. When the gear selector light stopped working the rear heated seats stopped working so definitely an earth issue. Someone once said the gear selector red light is wired through the same circuit as the heated rear seats so makes sense. I’ve stripped out the Center consul and checked all the wires and all seems ok. Time permitting I may try your advice and strip out the fuse box and tighten things up, as it happens I do have an annoying tapping / rattle which seems to come from the the bottom of the A pillar on the passenger side so perhaps that’s the smoking gun.

Can you give me an idea of where the earth's are? My heated/cooled are totally dead. Fuses all checked still no sign of life. Any suggestions appreciated

There's an earth point behind the trim on the passenger side footwell, below the A pillar. This can be accessed by removing the panel above the feet behind the glove box and then gently pulling out. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

Land Rover actually go through the expense of moving fuse boxes to the other side so, on LHD vehicles, it will still be in the passenger footwell, just on the right hand side of the car. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

All cleaned at front end, they weren't too bad but made no difference. Still no lights showing on controls
