MY16/MY17 Differences

SWMBO has been hinting that she's coming round to an L405 so a purchase later this year might be on the cards, cash permitting. Very Happy Very Happy

I'm probably looking at 2016/2017 cars but would like to know what the difference is between them and also, how do you spot the difference when looking at ads? Most ads will give the registration date but that won't guarantee a MY17 even if it's a 66 plate. Is there something obvious like different seat switches or door cards which would give it away.

Lastly, if anyone has pdf versions of the MY16 and MY17 brochures I'd be grateful for copies Thumbs Up

Thanks all

On the 2017 MY the selector buttons on the infotainment screen are at the bottom and the screen is bigger

On the 2016 MY the selector buttons are at the side of the screen

Some 2016 MY cars will be Euro 5
All the 2017 MY cars should be Euro 6 (might be important if you go into London)
The adblue fill point on Euro 6 cars should be on the near side inner wing underneath the bonnet
If you ring a dealer and they don't know which MY the car is get them to check if there is an adblue filler point under the bonnet. You might be lucky and get a LR sales person that knows how to open the bonnet.
Hope this helps

Thanks, that's useful as most ads have a picture of the dash/screen area Very Happy Very Happy 2021 D350 Fifty Edition - Carpathian Grey

The big advantage of the MY17 cars with the new infotainment unit is that it has Apple CarPlay which I'm not sure you can get in the older MY16 cars and I don't think you can upgrade them either but I could be wrong. 1994 Range Rover LSE Autobiography

The door mounted controls I believe came in when the facelift version was released in 18/19. 1994 Range Rover LSE Autobiography

The 17 model year car also has a completely different instrument panel:

Before 2017:

2017:

The surround camera system is also a lot more effective on the ‘17, while it still retains the dual view screen, CD/DVD player of the earlier car and doesn’t depend on a digital screen that so far out of a driver’s safe line of sight, that (s)he really ought to pull over to use it Thumbs Up
