Hello everyone

I accidentally turned on my heated wheel yesterday and noticed that it got very hot, so hot that I had to turn it off, so suspecting that the thermostat has failed I thought I would ask the question how hot should it get?

I know that this is subjective so will get hold of a thermometer and measure it, but does anyone know what temperature it should reach?

The few times that I've used mine I've turned it off after no more than 5 minutes due to being more than hot enough.

I use mine almost every day. It gets nice and warm but not too warm. Could be a faulty temp sensor.

Reminds me of a snowmobile we had at work once, also with heated handlebars. The temp sensor failed and melted the gloves of my colleague

If you have a gap diagnostic tool or possibly another type you might see the engine load raise when you turn it on. if so you could monitor it and see if the thermostat is working

The above might sound silly however i noticed that at idle my heated front windscrean adds about 5-6% to the engine load (via alternator) when i tun it on

When the steering wheel is worn it can get too hot.

Thanks everyone, I guess that the best thermostat is my thumb!

Hi All,
Mine takes quite a while to heat up, and then seems to have warmer spots in places than others. Should it be pretty uniform? Is there more than one element in there perchance?
Not a huge issue but I do like to know these things!
