P023d - 22 (6c)

Hi Guys,

Help with diagnosis needed. Last night driving home, felt a "thump" followed by no power and "engine system fault"

Had a look this morning, starts easily, idles smoothly, no load revs freely. Increase the load and it sounds clattery and no power followed by "esf".

Read the codes and only P023d - 22 (6c) showing ( what does the (22 6c) mean?

I recently replaced one of the top intercooler hoses (split) so removed and checked the other which was good.

So, what other causes are the of the code?

Any ideas?help gratefully received.

Having now done a search and read all I can find, I have checked as best I can without dismantlling the plastic inlet manifold which seems clean and no evidence of soot, just a little oil at the back.

No one ever mentions the clatter that I am hearing under load.

Remove the lower intercooler hoses, and check for excessive oil...

Hey Mikey, I hope you are around today.

So, I have removed the lower end of both lower intercooler pipes, and a few drips from the right hand one and just a smear from the left.

I also seem to have lost a litre or so of coolant.

Any further ideas please.

I guess my real problem is finding someone with the knowledge and experience close enough to me in Valencia. The only option may be the local Main Dealer Shocked

Small amounts of oil is perfectly acceptable.
Sounds as though you have a boost leak, be it a top intercooler hose or cracked manifold

A smoke test would highlight any issues Thumbs Up

Thanks Stan and Mikey, Stan I had found and read some of those threads, but there where a couple I had not. Thanks Mikey, I was beginning to doubt turbo after the no oil in hoses. So, more investigation needed. Can you briefly describe how a smoke test is performed please.

A light oil is heated, and the inlet system gently pressurized, and pushes smoke out of any part of the inlet system that is not sealed Thumbs Up
