Hi Paul,

Thanks for the info in your post. The FBH is voltage sensitive, think it cuts out at 10.5v from memory. I've bought a scope to see if i can view the k-bus signals between the FBH and the HVAC panel. I've also bought another FBH from a 2012 vogue. So will swap out asap. No guarantees this one is any better but at least i can compare with my original. Keep you posted Thumbs Up

I had the E7 fault and the FBH wouldn't operate. Cured it with a 'Vehicle Reset' with the IID ... Regards,

as above the FBH needs a min battery voltage.
it also needs a minimum fuel level too.
I suppose to stop you running dry on the heater.

What does this actually do? I’ve seen this in IID. I’m getting E7 as well. 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded

FBH operation with timed climate

Hi all,

Just to update you on my timed climate issue from my previous posts. Finally managed to speak with a knowledgeable technician in Inchcape Chester after an email to JLR direct about the service. Turns out it was a software issue all along, as I suspected. New software update or reboot and the timed climate is working off the infotainment screen and the remote. After all this time its finally working as it should Very Happy

It doesn’t fire up. It sounds like it’s trying with the jet turbine sound from inside the wheel arch then it changes to a fan running. The fuel pump doesn’t start although it did one one occasion briefly. Like a ticking sound from the back. 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded

Hi Andy,

They really are a simple unit when you split them. I'm a maintenance engineer so I don't like anything like this to beat me Laughing There are many posts on here regarding the FBH unit and I've read a lot of them. They are in effect a mini version of a central heating oil burner. Nothing new, my cousin had one in his sleeper wagon over 40 years ago, gees I'm getting old Sad As with any burner they through a series of safety checks before they will fire up.

If it was me I would whip the FBH out and check its not full of carbon or something else obvious. It's really not that difficult to get out. The worst bit by far is wrestling with the arch liner, it's what I imagine fighting a naggy octopus would be like Laughing

Remove the FBH exhaust and brackets then clamp both water hoses and gently release the fuel supply hose clip. If done carefully you will be able to reuse it. The cables are all on plugs. When you split it, just be careful you don't damage any gaskets but these are able to be purchased if needed. The gauze is delicate so don't stick anything through it. If the glow pin is faulty or damaged, again these are readily available.

If you haven't got the Webasto software and link cable to test the various components then carefully put a 12 volt supply across them. Even with the test gear you can only test the water pump, fan, glow pin and fuel pump operation. This is because the control board is running JLR software to run on their canbus. Basic Webasto units just need a permanent and switched supply to work just like your home boiler, not so the units in ours.

If you have something to clear faults great , if not pulling the FBH fuse for a few seconds will reset it.

Also have a look at the fuel pump unit. I have heard of some that rot from the outside due to the position under the car.

I have pulled the fuse a couple of times but it doesn’t make any difference. I’ve tried to check the operation with the IID tool but just keeps failing with a fault code which no-one seems to know what the code is.

I’m just going to go have to set a day or two aside and remove it. 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded

Do you have any more information on the software update? It seesm odd that a car of your age would have out of date software - I assume this relates to the battery managenment? 2010 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE

2019 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Loire Blue

Hope you don't mind if I hijack the thread with a query re the FBH. I have a 2020 autobiography and the FBH works fine off the JLR remote fob but when I try to use it via the inControl app it starts the engine after about 20 seconds. Is this normal? Agueroooooooooo. 93-20
