No Smoke without.......

Ok....so just had a mild heart attack.....

I know the rr has a fuel burning heater, and I did used to have a (non) working one on a Rover 75 a good few years ago but I've never really seen one in action. I'm hoping I just witnessed mine.

When I got the Range Rover, and got it on T4, we did try and test the FBH but it didn't want to play so I believed it to be in need of a service / clean up however I never got around to even locating it, never mind having a look as a) too cold (oh the irony) and b) far more important bits to fettle.

So, I just nipped out from work to collect my son from school, drop him off and come back, a grand round trip of about 2, maybe 3 miles max. Just as I pulled into the car park puffs of white smoke from the passenger side under the bonnet. Engine off, jump out, fumble for the bonnet lever after a few hand pats just to make sure there's no external flambustion waiting to jump out at me, and by the time I get the bonnet open - it's stopped.

Couldn't see anything, nothing hot, and it sounds daft, but the smell was different - not what I'd expect if something was melting, diesel/oil was on fire etc. Does this sound like FBH?

Silly question though, where exactly IS it?? If it is that, I need to check the exhaust pipe etc.

That would make sense - actually, is that what keeps making a whirring sound? A fan spinning up all the time or something?

I think I know what I'll be taking a look at this weekend.
